When it rains and I open the sliding doors, loads of water comes flooding out of the channel the bottom slider sits in is this normal? If I don’t open the doors it will sit there till I do
I didn’t think it was right it’s like a river comes flowing out as soon as the doors opened it’s trapped in the sliding channel till the doors relisedI am not “the authority” on declaring if this is normal or not, but I have never had water run out of any part of the sliding door or its bottom rail.
I can’t quite imagine how it gets in there but it doesn’t sound right to me.
No roof bars so no ideaLeaky roof bars?
Thankfully iv never had any issues regarding the sliding windowsMy drive slopes, van parked nose down and never had any water come out of the sliding door!
VW OEM sliding windows - they’re another matter though since cleaning the rubbers and applying Autoglym vinyl and rubber seem ok.
It seems it not normal lolYep mine does the same, my drive is on a slope with the front end lower than the rear, I thought it was normal lol
The mystery continues I guessMine is exactly the same and I don’t have roof bars or leaking windows. It’s also parked on a flat concrete slab.
I have the same problem and am wondering if the door seal around the bottom is causing the problem. There’s no drain holes in the channel, unlike earlier versions of the van. But surely the outer door seal [this one on door and not the ‘main seal’ on the van aperture] is preventing water draining out of the underside of the door by trapping it and is also diverting water to fill up the channel. Premature failure of the slider roller has just drawn my attention to this issue- the bearings got rusty and disintegrated.
I am wondering whether to remove the bottom portion of this seal.

Yes, I cut away / removed the bottom section on the door seal. I think I’ve also put another thread about this. It’s worked brilliantly for me - when I get a chance I’ll post a photo. IMHO it’s a design flaw- the outer seal traps the water which is also why it sometimes gushes out when you open the door after rain.

Regardless of how it's getting in you need to get it out, mopping out occasionally is not going to stop your bottom roller arm components corroding.
Slider channel water collection & premature roller failure - cured.
Hi All. A few weeks back I had the roller on the sliding door fail / disintegrate through corrosion. Although this was only a 5 year old van, it seemed a common problem. Through searching the forum I also discovered another common problem - sliding track channel water collection. This was...www.t6forum.com

If there is no water in the pocket then you're good.
I didn't go as far as removing it as it should be protecting from road spray so I just put some wedges in at the low point to ensure it drained.
I also regularly dress the seals with seal grease to ensure the best possible seal, tops around all doors and the very fickle tailgate seal.
I use the Honda Shin Etsy grease mentioned on this thread, not cheap but I expect it will last many years as so little is needed:
Odd Tailgate Leak...
Hi all, I have a strange tailgate leak, it's puddleing in the left hand side bottom of the door, on top of the rubber seal, the thing is I have no trace marks of how it's getting in. Cheers.www.t6forum.com
If you haven't already double check your sliding window seals (if fitted) and the handle (if it's straightforward to get the panels off) as most likely entry points in the door itself:
Sliding door lower roller guide / channel holding water
Hi all, looking for some advice. I have an issue with the sliding door bottom roller guide / channel holding water when the door is closed. If I open the sliding door after any rain or wash then quiet a lot of water runs out. It is also casing the channel to rush. I replaced the sliding door...www.t6forum.com
