Water ingress.. from slam vents?

Hi all. We have just purchased our first vw T6.1 and there is wet in the compartment at the back where the gas is stored. We have spoke to the garage that converted it and they are saying it’s from the spray off the tyre coming up through the vent. But the carpet is soaking. Surely this isn’t acceptable?
Any information would be much appreciated

No it isn't acceptable, it isn't Fit For Purpose. Take it back & don't be fobbed off.

If you bought it from a business less thas 28 days ago you can just reject it out of hand, as per Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Hi all. We went and visited the garage yesterday. The owner of the garage was telling us it was acceptable. Then one of the fitters came over and looked at it and said it wasn’t right. He then got underneath and there was a big plastic cover missing. Which they have now fitted. We have now found some other issues and have taken photos and sent them via email. The one partner of the company is absolutely great. Easy to talk to. The other bloke is an absolute rogue. I can’t say any more at this moment. But it’s scary how many cowboys are out there.
