I know lots of WAVs are tempting for camper conversions etc as they often have low mileage & good service history.

All the adaptation companies will tell you that the bits and pieces are worthless & can’t be reused, so just scrap them.

That’s true in that they won’t reuse them, but there’s very rarely anything wrong with those precious parts and so they’re ready to be reused in the existing / project vehicle of a current wheelchair user either as an upgrade or for spares and repairs to keep their WAVs on the road.

When I was looking for the extras to add to my Caravelle (it had a cassette lift but I needed a 6 Way Seat Base & Handcontrols) I found my seat base on eBay for £40 - something that retails in exactly the same form for £2-3k. Madness!

So please please, if you’re away to strip a WAV of its accessibility adaptations, please post here first to spread the word.
There’s a strong network of people with spinal cord injury in the UK who help each other out with this kind of stuff and it’s more than likely we’ll be able to find a good home for some/most of it.

Thanks

Hi ,I have just stripped out from my van a wheel chair lift, it is relly heavy, now i'm in County Durham, if it is any use to someone there welcome to have it , only thing you would need to pick it up, great piece of kit the grandson had a whale of a time lifting me up and down on it!

Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to message - I’ll certainly pass it on.

It’s usually the cassette/back in the box type lifts under the side door that are the most sought after as they’re super rare.
These are far more common, but there still could be someone keen so I’ll spread the word.

Thanks a mil!

Loving the attitude to avoiding waste on this thread - I cant stand wasting stuff!

How difficult/Expensive is it to return a WAV to a Shuttle? I'm doing my best to 'build my business case' with my wife and the WAVs seem too good to be tur price/mileage/spec wise. Although I'm relatively handy, I'm time poor with work and young kids so I'd likely try and pay someone to do this but presumably, if it was quick./easy/cheap, the dealers would do this themselves?

Would this fit straight in my window van? Or does it need rails?
This might be the perfect answer to getting my mum in mine, until they can source a suitable priced and correct WAV.
Many thanks

Is this still available? How does it bolt in into the floor?
I can collect whenever?
Many thanks
