kipping in my van at the moment outside my elderly parents house whilst caring for them They have bad Covid.

My heater went middle of the night and I froze.
This error code is not explained too well online, anyone had this and know of a fix.

I thank you

On my motorhome that code was for: Operating voltage too low. Think your battery is low. Are you plugged into mains (EHU) that should sort it.

Thanks. Not hooked up but will run a lead into the house for tonight. Do these webasto heaters drain the leisure battery after like 6 hours?

Yep, that’s a low battery error, you may need to reset the heater in the settings to clear that error I seem to remember?

My leisure battery (factory fit) never charges above 80% (lots of topics on this) and at this time of year will run low quite quickly. Stick it on charge for a few hours.

Yes they draw about 7/8amps when booting up and closing down. Then when running depending on what temp you have set 1/2/3amps. Plugin to mains then whatever draw is taken from batteries will/should be replaced. Point: your batteries are very low now and need charging before using heater again

what leisure battery have you got? . . . and what charger have you got? (DC-DC etc?)

got any voltmeters or battery monitors?

start up - 5-10A

tick-over depending on model - 30W draw on 100ah SLA battery = (w=v*a) (30w@2.5A@12v)(100ah/2 = 50ah capacity) (50ah/2 = 20hrs)

so depending on the setup, yes the leisure battery will be flat after one cold night.

Ask whoever set the controller up what voltage they set the cutoff at, (if they bothered to set it up correctly). I set them at 12v/12.1v or so - default is something ridiculous like 10.5v which is no good for your batteries. I'll post a screenshot in a while to show what I mean.multi.PNG

Hi. Did the original post get resolved. I’m having a similar problem. My leisure battery says 12.3v but when I put on the heater it drops to under 10v the fan spins up and the controller reads ‘h84’. When the fan stops the battery moves up to around 11.4v. The Van hasn’t been used for a couple of weeks but the solar seems to be keeping the charge topped up. Does it need a good run to charge the battery or does it imply the battery is not holding charge? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ta.

Your battery or charging system is toast! Error code is operating voltage too low. You will never get the heater to run with those voltages.
12.3 when standing is flat to begin with - mine sits at around 13.6 with the solar panel having charged it. Either your panel /controller isn't charging your battery or your battery has had it. A charged battery will sit at around 12.7v so there is something wrong if it is at 12.3v.

Thanks for the advice and pointing me in a direction. Plugged into the mains and the heater fired up. Left the leisure battery to charge and it’s now reading 13.2v. I’ll unplug it from the mains and leave it to see if the charge drops drastically over the next day or so. I’m assuming if it does then the battery is toast. Thanks again.
