Hi Oldie you are clearly all over the webasto, the van I have is 4 years old and from some of the signs on the van the previous owner never really looked after it in the way you’d expect. After you sorted the last problem The heater has been working well but now the controller has gone dead again ( thats as technical as I can get) ... thought it needs a good overhaul.
I am trying to not take on extra and it is a bit far for me. Ideally you need the wiring checking closely as there does seem to be a problem there. The heater can go 5 to 8 years without servicing ( although manufacturer recommends every year! ) with the usually low usage that a camper heater gets, then all it usually needs is the burner pad replacing. This would just show up as slowly becoming more and more reluctant to start. I would advise that you track the wiring from the power source ( and ground connection) and clean and remake each plug and check that there are no dodgy abraded sections. It is unlikely that the controller has failed, it does seem to be an intermittent connection.
Thanks a lot, I did give it a quick look over but I’ll do a more thorough check , thats reassured me re the service, after your last tips the controller was working fine , as was the unit itself, I’ll have a good snoop and see how it goes, thanks again for response,
