What’s my Kombi worth?

A friend of mine sold his 2011 Cali with 65k on the clock for £32k back in the spring. I winced at the price when he said he was getting rid, but wife was keen to test drive it ...... and then we spent nearly three times as much buying and converting a new T6! It sounds cheap now!:slow rofl:

Wow, if I had the funds a 3 Bridge would be my choice too!

Prices are very strong presently. £30k gets you into the VW California market. A year ago it was £20-25k to get you in the one. Their residuals have always been bullet proof

Yes, I’m feeling I might hold out as this year is probably the worst to be buying. I’ve always looked at Calis as an investment as they hold their value so well, but it’s maybe wise to wait a while (however hard that might be!) than buy at top whack prices. Probably couldn’t be a worse time for buyers. Great for sales though!

I can’t see them falling to be fair as the new ones are rocketing in price. Just beware that there is a lot to a California and get it properly checked put before you buy.

I’ve had a look at that van I think you’re referring to. It’s a lot of van for the money but I’d want the cam belt and water pump done before taking it!

BM are the experts and probably correct in that value might not fall in the short(ish) term (or, at least, not by much if it does) but 'an investment' tends to indicate that you might be wanting to sell it on at a profit later which I would doubt (even if you wrapped in in cotton wool and never took it on the road). It's the same as any other non-classic car - it will invariably depreciate, albeit a a slower rate than an 'ordinary' van or car.

Oh, interesting. was it blue by any chance?

Hi, no, I intend to buy and use for the long term and not change until I’ve finished ‘adventuring’. I meant an investment more in the terms of justifying the initial spend and for the years I’ll get from it but also a decent sell-on price whenever the time comes :)

Contemplating trading / selling the T6 in, just wondered what the going rates would be for mine, any thoughts?
