What colour to paint these steel wheels

Just got this T6 and will be keeping it fairly stock other than I have blacked out all chrome and had it remapped. The wheels are a bit dull and showing some signs of rust so was going to paint them. Originally thought to keep them black but now undecided. Grey, smoke and bronze also looks good on any vans I have seen. Any concensus what the best colour for these pepperpots on a black van ?

You'll be lucky to get anything approaching consensus on something as subjective as wheel colour. :)

Personally, I don't usually like black wheels due to the loss of detail of the wheel design, but in your case, with black wheel covers and a pepperpot design that's simple, but easily discernible, I'd stay with black.

Black makes the wheels look smaller.

I'd go silver, perhaps a slightly darker shade than standard type steel wheel silver.

I was dead set on black until I was ready to get the paint. I then thought of a dark bronze as an alternative for exactly the reason Bav states. But now starting to edge toward a dark grey/smoke grey/gunmetal/chrome black, something dark still but not dark enough to disappear. Silver does look nice on a black van but was I was hoping for a different look. Maybe a darker silver as suggested by Sasquatch might be the place to go. Equally as important I dont know to go for flat, satin or gloss ? Im going to be using a spray can if anyone has recommendations for brands.

You mention they are showing signs of rust , if its in the crease between the rim and the basket of the wheel then this can be a bit of a nightmare.
I used kurust after they we flatted back and then repainted them with some cheap big cans of spray from aldi or lidl which had a built in rust inhibitor.
The paint went on really well, covered nicely and hi gloss finish .
Kept the rust at bay for a year or so (and they were pretty rusty before I started)
And don't forget to do the inside too else the rust will creep in from behind.

JumpShip Rust is not too bad a little on the surface nothing major.

JoshB_ Im a fool then they wont be red lol

I can't get the black chrome finish out of a can, so of the other options I'm still torn between mid/dark grey/antricite or bronze. Its so hard without seeing a finish on a wheel. Different shades and matt, satin, gloss, metallic finishes. I suppose I just have to take a punt and if I dont like it cover it up with the wheel covers :-(
