It runs along the underside edge of the van and thankfully seems to be made of plastic/fibreglass. Assuming someone knows what it is called, how hard is it to replace?

Are you talking about the sill (it’s metal isn’t it) or the circular bung in the sill ?

Pete

That looks like the actual side sill of the van to me.

Made out of metal and part of the structal side panel..... but coated in underseal Etc to protect it.

If that is the case.... then the correct course of action would be . . .

it's a body shop job for welding a new sill on and painting.

Or

Repair as mentioned below.

Yeah it’s metal :(

Just pop a bit of paint on and discover it. Best put some silicone on to seal the plug in that case.

Still the 1st cig it trigger in 5 days was nice :)

looks like this bit to me . . . . "outer side member"

The original piece is bonded and welded in place. . . . . . . looks like its bent up and closed the gap on your side door too.

Thanks for all the replies :)

At least I know now what the part is called and that it isn’t something that I can fix. Bloody annoying, but as it isn’t obvious I can live with it for now.

It has reduced the gap under the side door to almost nothing but thankfully the door still opens fine. Will try knocking the sill “top” bit down later with a piece of wood and a hammer to try and restore the gap.
