I fitted a 10" sub under my driver seat when I got the van (2018 T6) a few years ago. It is an old Pioneer one that had been in my previous van, and was powered by a 250w Sony amp. I had the amp under the passenger seat. I recently installed a leisure battery and DC-DC charger under passenger seat so had to buy a smaller am. Got one of the Vibe mini 400w ones as it was small enough to go under the driver seat on the back of the sub enclosure. It sounds better than it did with the old amp, and at some point I will buy a better sub. This one is about 15 years old!
Aaaaaanyway, in the meantime I want to upgrade the door speakers and tweeters, so my real question is what size? All the vehicle specific kits are either 6.5" or 8". I'm thinking that with a sub already installed, I probably don't need to go to 8", and would possibly benefit from something that will focus on the mids a bit more. Is that reasonable? I like dance and electronic, so bass is important to me, but I don't feel I am particularly lacking the lows with the sub I already have.
For now the new speakers won't be amplified, but I may well end up getting an amp for them as well in the near future. Perhaps one of the Vibe mini 4-channel ones similar to the sub so that I can fit it inside the dash. My sub is currently fed from the rear speaker outputs (standard head unit) using a splice in the line to the rear speakers I have already fitted in the back of the van. The splice is in the line just after the quadlock, so when I install the 4-channel amp I will have to do something about that so that I don't end up amplifying an already amplified signal.
