My search mojo really seems to be evading me today. Even though I remember seeing a post about this before, I cant find it.
So what do people do with this pesky little wire:

If you are covering the ply? you could slot the ply and cover over the wire?

If not, you could use a punch to dent a groove in the panel to allow the cable to be a bit more flush?
or unwrap the loom and allow the individual strands to lay flat on the panel? (just thinking out loud)

Slot the ply was my thought, but wondered if there was a better method.

Convert to barn doors. :)

bit extreme but is it possible to drill a hole level with the floor and pass it through lower down? Repaint bare metal and appropriate grommet.

Yes, Im trying to avoid drilling holes wherever I can.

When i did power latching on my tailgate i didnt want the wire on show like that so i lifted the edge of the flooring and drilled a hole through into the cavity just below visible level and fed the cables through out of sight, it would require removing the plug off the end but its only three cables so easy enough with a crimp release tool (less than a tenner on ebay)

Do you mean pin removal tool? I have some of those, but like I said I dont really want to be drilling holes if I can avoid it.
