I'm looking to change my set up, on 17" Devonports and some continental contract tyres from new, and it feels like driving on ice, (very light steering) and a bit unnerving for me personally. i'm looking at lowering 40mm and changing the wheels to 18" . I have been advised by a guy I know who as been dealing in wheels for many years, to look at Ronal, Speedline, OZ, and a few other more expensive makes due to load rating, and practicality, on 245/40 tyres, in particular Michelin (more expensive but will out last other makes).
When I was at the VW dealers the other day I mentioned this and they let me have a drive in there 4 motion , DSG show van, lowered 40mm, 18" sportline wheels, etc, etc, and to be honest, it still felt nearly as light as mine.
Any advice please....
