Which Headunits support Apple CarPlay?

There are loads of options available so I'm going around the internet like a mad man....
Looked at the 360 models but unsure what to get.

Mine is a 2017 T6 and I would like:

Reverse camera facility
Apple carplay wireless
Touch screen
Phone onbviously
Steering wheel finctions.

What should I look at? I don't mind the 360 range but which one?
Or the larger screen type as long as it has the above features, but will I have wiring issues.

So confusing so guidence would be great.

many Thanks

If by the 360 models you mean RCD360, these don't have a DAB radio and carplay is wired only.

This is what I’ve fitted. It does everything your after.
I’m well happy with mine.

Dav-Tec fitted a Halo 9 (and multi function steering wheel as my van is a Startline) last week. It has all the features you want, really pleased with it

Hello,

Finally got myself a T6, unfortunately the head unit is an entry level on and i'm used to having apple car play.

Which model VW units have this built in as i'd rather keep this standard if possible.

Many thanks

The problem with fitting a standard radio is that you'll need to overcome the component protection. There are far better aftermarket options available.

First have a good search on "Apple Car Play" as there are many thread discussing option.

I think on the T6 any of the units other than the base model (the one with no navigation) has it - but there is more subtlety if you want wireless

Also be aware that the OE head units are coded to the vehicle - so changing them (and selling old ones on) has some complexity.

It's possible to re-code but it's not like an unlock code so the time/equipment/knowledge needed to do it means it's a dealer/specialist job.

Have a look at some of the aftermarket suggestions - you can usually keep the majority of OE features.

What model do you currently have? There’s a chance it can have CarPlay activated

Its a 1K8035150L Has three buttons each side and an SD slot at the bottom.
I really need a unit with a rear camera function too as that's the next job on list to help hook up the caravan.
Thanks for all the answers !

According to previous posts on here, that radio doesn't have the carplay function, either locked or unlocked. It has to be one of the units with 4 buttons down each side.

Yes that's what I thought after a bit of searching. Oh well looks like i'll grab a coffee and have a read up on recommended aftermarket apple car play units.

On a page on facebook someone is selling VW units fully unlocked ready to plug and play.
Would this work as a plug and play or would it need some form of configuration / coding ?
Thanks

Perhaps remove yours, then plug his in and try it when you go to have a look at it.

@Dav-Tec often has a unit or two available

That would be good but unfortunately the seller is a 4 hour drive so it will be a postage jobbie.
Has good feedback and a lot of followers on his facebook group just wanted to know if this is possible as a "plug and play" unit before i commit.

If they’re selling it as ‘unlocked’ then I would take that to mean the Component Protection security layer has been removed; this ties the unit to the VIN, so with it removed it should work in any corresponding vehicle.
Double-check it’ll be plug and play with the seller and you should be ok.
