Which tow bar

Morning all

Just trying to work out which tow bar to go for on my kombi.
I like the idea of a fixed as it's cheaper but will this effect the reversing sensors.
Been quoted 400 for the fixed and 500 for detached in Ipswich.
But I do work near Redditch if anyone has any suggestions.

Any help would be great

I had a Westfalia detachable unit fitted by a mobile fitter. Cost was around the £500 mark. Suggest a google search for mobile fitters as travelling from Redditch to Ipswich for a towbar to save a couple of pounds will cost you double in fuel and time.
With regard to the rear parking sensors; I have sensors and a camera, when the unit was wired into the vans existing system for a towbar fitment using VCDS the fitter was able to set the van to turn off the sensors when reversing a trailer but leave the camera on. This is determined by whether a trailer plug is connected so if you have the towbar on but nothing on the back, then the sensors work as normal.
I often leave my detachable towbar on, and have not noticed if throw up erroneous signals to the rear parking sensors.

Oh I see, maybe not such an issue then.

I have a fixed, and does not effect my sensors, and is wired in so switches off parking guide when plugged in

£375 approx, my memory is shocking. Having designated electrics bumped it up a little but definitely worth it6tag-3107081571-1568217308573103800_3107081571.jpg

That is a good price and to have the correct function of turning off the sensors when reversing.
Do you know if any members who fit or have contact details in Ipswich or Redditch

I bought my van 2nd hand from a VW dealer and it was delivered, I had not seen van but asked them to put a towbar on! I thought it was quite a good price but I don't like it! I requested VW detachable! Has a bar underneath and looks alittle industrial! However it does really protect the van so learnt to live with it! Was going to change it! But it's just towbar and gets used alot! I think it's from tow trust?!?!? Bad picture sorry! IMG_20170624_11163781111.jpg

I've got a mechanic mate fitting a fixed tow bar. £500 all in. He said the main issue for my van is that it hasn't had the towing prep pack fitted so a lot of time is spent sorting the wiring out correctly. He also mentioned many places don't code the tow bar in when going with cheapest quotes. So that's worth being aware of however their are guys on here with vcds that may do it for beer tokens.
