Which tyres for air ride

Hi all,

I’ll shortly be having solow air ride fitted and I’ve been advised my current tyres 265/40/20 104XL will rub and will need to be changed to 255/35/20….more expense

To keep the load rating (t6.1 t32) and get the right sized tyre is looks like I’m limited to these:-

The current rim specs are:-
- A staggered set - 8.5x20" Front Wheels / 10x20" Rear Wheels
- 5x120 PCD
- ET45 Front
- ET38 Rear

My initial concern / question is will the 255 width tyres look too stretched over the rim, especially the rears and would you recommend going narrower on front than the 255?

I’m open to not having 103 rated tyres (and aware of the implications) and there seems to be plenty of options if you step down to say a 97 rated tyre. Has anyone got any recommendations? Here good things about the Goodyears.

The normal setup for air with staggered rims would be 235/35 and 255/35, the 255 on a 10" rim does look very stretched but they tuck nicely.

Thanks Phil, excuse my ignorance but does it make any difference if it’s 4motion?

Yep, 4 motions are supposed to run with all 4 corners the same size, so if your running staggered wheel widths then you should really choose tyres with the same rolling radius.
