Further to my post regarding "Motor Caravan Speed limits & the DVLA" I got to wondering how widespread the problem actually is, & if it warrants further action. So here's a quick poll to test the water & get a feel for the situation. I'm guessing that it isn't a huge issue, given the sample of folk that we have on the forum & the actual numbers involved, but we may be surprised. Please only respond to the poll IF you were exceeding 60MPH & under 70MPH, as technically, if you were exceeding 70MPH, the type of vehicle is irrelevant, you were speeding anyway. Also only respond if you're happy that your van meets the criteria to qualify as a "Motor Caravan" as set out in the Type Approval regs (see post above), regardless of what the V5 says.

If anyone has received an NIP in circumstances not covered by the poll responses, please drop me a DM & I'll amend the responses accordingly.

Interesting idea. What would "further action" entail?
I imagine we have comparatively small numbers in the big scheme of things. I seem to see more mentions of this issue on facebook than here. Will be watching this thread with interest.

Not sure what form "Further Action" may take tbh. It all depends on the responses & scale. It could be a letter to an MP or get a Journalist involved, if there's a story to be told. If the actions of the DVLA are causing problems for both the public AND the police, then someone might sit up and listen, especially if we can prove that police & court time is being wasted.
