Why is this dashboard part, not more of a thing?

Having taken my lower dash out, seeing some of the pieces - it made me wonder why this part was not more of a thing ?

By that I mean it could be a very modular part , that you could plug different things into ?

I’ve seen some 3d printed things that can go on top/use the cigarette lighter, but is it different things within different T6 models ?

Random post I know, just wondering what people see as the potential here. It has power after all. ??

It holds my windscreen de-misting sponge... never considered another use for it! You could have some extra USB chargers and/or display for something like a diesel heater or VRM/RaspPi leisure system monitoring (although it would be quite impractical as it's so low)

You could put a mini shredder in for all the pound notes spent... or at least the receipts so your mrs doesn't find em
