Winter mode: raising suspension for the season

So I'm not quite done with my 20s, I still love the look. So my plan is to run the 20s in summer and 17s with AT tyres in winter.
I'm currently dropped 40mm on springs. Is there an easy way to switch between 40mm drop and standard height? I'd like to run at standard height when in "winter mode"

Is the springs the difficult bit. Could I have a full shock and spring setup to swap over. Obviously the rear is pretty easy

What so you think?

Err, to be honest I think it sounds like a lot of faffing around twice a year!

Air Suspension from a number of outlets could give you what you are looking for, if that is higher in the winter low in the summer. Just choose a ride height that is within toleration range of programming. Your decisions on changing tyres and wheels over winter is quite sensible. You could get quality Winter or quality All season. The later could be used all year around if necessary or just used in winter or used in winter and also when going off to rainy Wales camping or anywhere else that wet and slippery.:)

Changing the shocks and springs over twice a year does seem like a lot of effort, but if you’re happy to go to the effort of a few hours work twice a year, or paying someone else the labour then it would work.

It’s a shame that there aren’t any adjustable coil over suspension kits that include the range of 0mm lowering to 40mm lowering because it would be much easier to adjust ride height on a set of coil overs than swap everything out.

The perfect solution is air suspension that provides enough range to do both. It’s a more expensive outlay up front, but there are systems out there that have enough range to ride comfortably at standard ride height and 40mm lowering, all at just the touch of a button. Air suspension is a specialist subject of mine, so feel free to send me a message if you did want to discuss those options.

I’m not sure why you want to alter the ride height for winter? If you are UK based the a 40mm lowered van will be fine on virtually all roads with a similar overall winter /AT tyre diameter. Seems like an awful lot of work to change ride height unless you are planning driving up mountain tracks.
I swap to winters every year with 20s - with a 40mm lowered van and I have never any issues in the UK or driving up narrow roads in the Alps.

40mm is only a pretty small drop and will still leave the van alot higher with more ground clearance than most cars. Do you have a specific reason you want to go back to standard? alot of people run AT tyres on a drop
