Hi,

Does anyone know whether there is an ignition switched live in the interior light pod please?

If anyone has the wiring diagram please, that would be great.

Looking to wire a switched twin USB flush outlet on the pod to charge a phone and power a dash cam.

Thanks

No there isn’t.

There’s a live feed for the courtesy light circuit that’s controlled my the BCM. It turns off after about 20 minutes.

I am not doubting you but doesn't appear to turn off with that install! Well, no mention of it.:cautious: Just going by that post.
Is it possible that it is a switched negative that is controlled which is negated by the dedicated earth that was used for the cam?

Cheers for the suggestions chaps. I’ve bought a 12v to 5v converter that gives out 3A.

If needs be, I’ll run a wire from the fuse box, but it’d be easier if I can tap power off the light somewhere.

Thanks. So... timed to turn off after the ignition is turned off? I presume that timer starts when the door is opened?

Looks like I’ll be pulling a wire up the A pillar!

Perfect, thanks chaps. I’ll have a play with the mutltimeter when the power supply arrives. It annoys me that my phone is on a holder by the mirror and I have a power lead trailing up to it.

Like @Deaky says.

3wires.

BCM Timed switched +ve (20mins-1hr depending on factory installed lights)

BCM switched -ve

perm -ve.

From that thread:
The courtesy circuit is -ve switched so the wires in the loom are as follows:
Brown - permanent -ve,
red/brown - BCM switched -ve,
red/black - permanent +ve

For me that thread has only confused it more, the two statements are at variance with each other.
I will just have to have a go at mine and see!

I’ll be getting the multimeter out and probing around when I get the time.

I need to tidy up that thread a bit.

This is what you have if you have standard bulbs in the interior.

So , if I want to just switch the light off when the door is open or not I need to put the single pole switch in what coloured wire?

If you just want a light that turns on and off with a switch and doesn‘t come on when the doors are open then you need red/black +ve and brown -ve.

But…. This circuit is on a timer to save flattening the starter battery and will turn off between 20 - 60 minutes after a door being opened or the ignition being turned off.

Or if your just trying to isolate them then put a switch in the red/black wire and that can be turned off to kill them

Thanks guys. I think I’ll try the switch in the red/black first and see if it does what I want.

Theres a coupling point in the dash behind/beside the glovebox (to the left) that the interior lighting circuit passes through, maybe a good spot to isolate and see if it does all lights or just the rear ?
