If you can't decide and it really is 50:50, maybe it should come down to something as silly as the headlights.
If the non-LED van has H4, go with the LED van unless the LED lights aren't self-levelling, then go with the other one, unless the other one has H4 and so it goes...
Or just wait for...
As title, 2018 Highline Kombi
Fitted towbar (factory preparation /PF Jones short loom)
Also I’ve fitted my Philips LEDH4 bulbs from my T5 which trigger an error.
I have Carista, and have enrolled on the Beta scheme but have no experience with its capabilities.
I suspect that I’ll need...
I’ve gone from H4 to H7 and the non OEM projector LEDs. H4 to H7 is a good upgrade especially with Osram +200% Nightbreakers. But there’s an even bigger improvement with LED over H7 let alone over H4. My non OEM LEDs are as good as my old Passat GTE Advance LEDs to give some comparison.
T6 incandescent headlamps are rubbish, both H4 and H7.
If you like OEM go for OEM LED retrofit(expensive).
If you want amazing results, superb beam pattern and low cost then retrofit aftermarket LED projectors in your existing headlamps.
I recently purchased full LED headlight units to replace the factory headlights, which originally had H4 bulbs. These new headlights are advertised as plug-and-play, but the seller mentioned that programming might be necessary for the high beam if the factory units used H4 bulbs. To avoid any...
Don't make me wheel out my H4 headlights with led bulbs video again... what's that... somebody hasn't seen it?
Give me a few minutes it's in here somewhere...
Welcome and nice van. Have you H4 headlights? If so their poor quality is well-documented and many choose to upgrade them to H7 or LED. I went to LED and couldn't even give away the H4's! Have a look here:
H4 To H7 Upgrade
This is a fully working oem led headlight.
It could do with a new lens being fitted as has a jump lead burn mark in it. It's the same lens as a h4 or h7 headlight of which there are plenty available for £30 - £50.
Hence the price of £150

Yes it's got stock H4 headlights unfortunately and 80% of my driving is in darkness.
Thanks for the link, I'm currently looking at options for LED headlights, I keep adding THQ V3 to the basket but not pulled the trigger yet. From what I can tell it's only the DRL that are LED on them and I'd...
H4 what? Halogen bulbs? LED bulbs? Do you have a picture?
I’m assuming LED as CE marked halogen bulbs are built to a standard so won’t be too long. If LED there is info on the forum (try the threads linked above) about removing the shield and/or rear cover to allow them to fit. Worth noting LED...
Thanks to Chris @The Van Cave for fitting the THQ full led lights for me yesterday. A massive upgrade on the pathetic H4 light output and they also look great. A very professional job Chris.
I still haven’t checked the illumination on the switch on mine but I think it’s weird that there isn’t any indication that the lights are except that other lights that aren’t on illuminate. My thinking is that with the h4 headlights installed the light from the led indicator would over power the...
...conventional reflector than that in the H4 headlight not a projector lens as in the stock VW led or THQ type led lookalike.
Putting a decent H4led lamp in the H4 headlight will make it more than a match for the H7 headlight similarly equipped during the normal 90 odd percent of driving when...
Okay a last Check
I can buy a set of h7 headlights with F markings for 200 euro's.
By comparison, a h7 unit with LED lights in them, how is that compared to a full LED head unit? By percentage?
Like units equiped with LED: H4 =20%, H7 = 70% Full led = 100%?
How should i look at it?
I...
Headlight upgrade had not made my list, focusing on things like a heater and radio upgrade.
Given most of my driving will be in Scotland, I will have a serious look at this.
How can you tell I have H4 lights, it is a 16-plate TRANSPORTER T28 S-LINE TDI BMT.
As @JumpShip says do you have the H4 or H7 headlights?
The H4 units seem to be just inherently a bad design, noticeable by the sheer number of threads about people upgrading them to the H7 units or LED
Jump in to one of the main headlight threads here...
Hi, I have recently sold my 56' plate shuttle and bought a T6. I have been concerned about all the concern about poor T6 headlights. I have found that when compared to a T5 with 17 year old UV damaged headlights they are much better. We do a lot of rural night driving in winter. The T5 lights...
