looks like the original 70A MOL battery to me,
might be worth getting it tested.
get your own tester - Amazon.co.uk : 12v battery tester
or take it to Halfords et for a test.
good to see the negs are on a chassis point and not on the battery Neg post
Efb is a cheaper version of an AGM.
There was a problem with early MOL batterys that were swapped under warranty.
But I think we are well over that now.
Post a pic of what you have.
...plus he called me to look at the van whilst it was on the ramp. Suggested I get an engine protector tray which I will do as I can’t believe how vulnerable the alternator is. Next thing on my mist plus new battery as the original Mol has done 5 years and is at its end (battery test confirmed).
1 - that's a secondary fusebox.
2 - I think that's a Varta battery... The MOL battery issue was resolved a couple of years ago now.
3 - it will be a AGM or EFB+ battery type.... But we'll have to look up the number to check.
...into the 'always live' cig socket (t6.1)
- Victron controllers: blue smart, orion tr smart non isolated dc/dc, smart solar mppt 75
- Roamer LiFePO4 105ah (BMS)
- MOL EAB starter (lead acid I believe)
Should I disable charging on the victron dc/dc when charging or maintaining the starter...
Last week I serviced my 2016 T6. It has a factory fitted undertray and everything underneath looks like it would look on a nearly new van. Definitely worth getting one.
The early MOL batteries had issues...... Looks like most have been swapped out now.
Most car garages have battery testers.... Eg Halfords will test your battery for free..... Or you can buy a battery tester your self.

Good call on the condition of the starter battery @Pete C
I didnt ask the age of the van either..... Doh.
There could still be some MOL batteries out there.
yes agreed - the starter should be an AGM SLA battery.
OEM is either VARTA or MOL.

Do you guys know if these trays are standard equipment on some models or do they always need to be fitted post-factory build? I have a vague recollection that they're fitted as standard on kombis though not on PVs, but I could have just completely invented that.
Hi folks, just wondering if anyone on here with the westfalia and not the VW loom has had any flat battery issues (not the Mol battery issue) since fitting?
Spot on - Will get a new battery, fit the BM2 and monitor.
I'll see if it improves my cold start, cranking, and starter battery charging...
Shame the previous owner just fitted this new lovely incorrect Varta battery back in Feb...
yep, odd. . . . . .
mines all factory fit.
when i went to the dealer for the failed MOL EFB leisure battery i asked for a AGM replacement.
They said they couldn't as the factory would only offer "like for like" warranty replacements. . . . and the AGM was more expensive.
heres a nice video...
What year is the van.?
Is it in the 36mnth warranty?
If so then it should be replaced FOC..... call VW Assist and get a VW callout to test the Mol battery..
