Thanks - perfect!
Well, first some confusing data. Indeed, the engine seems to be in almost continuous DPF regeneration.
At the moment of the data capture the engine had already been in DPF regen for 10 minutes (607 s). Thus there had been only some 11 minutes of no-regen in between. Normally...
...How does the ECU decide this?
1.The Differential pressure sensor is under reading
or
2.Particulates being picked up by the sensor aft of the DPF module.
or
3.Another method that I cant think of?
As its a Brand new DPF I doubt that is the reason unless VW dropped it a few times before I...
...so I assume euro 5 and that’s the reason I’m not seeing it.
Just pricing up a remap for it and options are around $1300 for egr delete (I think this is just remapped out of the system) and approx $2500 for remap, egr and dpf delete with the dpf being gutted.
Necessary to spend the extra or not?
Probably the constant attempts to regen have led to the oil dilution. I'd get the DPF replaced, oil changed and see how it goes from there Revo maps have a decent reputation, so I'd leave that be until you've had the other work done and run it.
...any leaks.
However what I have noticed is that when I'm driving the 'Particle Filter, diff pressure Sensor 1 bank 1' (which I assume is the pre DPF sensor) reads approx 20-100mbar but when I'm at idle this drops to around 1mbar which is less than Sensor 2 (I assume post DPF). Surely the...
I was under the impression that with the AB delete you had to smash through the DPF... Or it will just clog as there is no way of burning off the soot.
...to be fair, VeeWee. They have the dealer level diagnostics machine so should be able to tell what the issues are. I've got Carista and forced DPF clean, it wasnt that sooted anyway but this doesnt fix the problem, unless that sensor is not registering correctly.
I'll ask them to take a look...
Check out thread [T6_measured] Monitoring DPF regeneration, DPF condition, EGR operation - there were other symptoms and eventually p0191 fault. Change of rail pressure sensor improved the situation a lot although I think the jury is still out if the sensor was the sole fault.
Thank you very much for your detailed analysis. In summary, the DPF displayed mpg figure does include the extra fuel used for a DPF regen, but the displayed figure spreads the extra fuel used over 60+km more than the actual distance of the regen (~20km) in order to reduce large fluctuations in...
Welcome @Gilkesy
I'd be investigating the DPF issues first. It might just be a case of regens not being done or it may be a symptom of much more extensive work being needed that might make the "cheaper" fixes moot.
What is the indicated soot level in the DPF?
I'm in Ireland..2018 bi turbo doing very short journeys. Had egr delete and dpf gutted. It won't pass NCT test now it's equivalent to MOT. Will I need a new dpf and if so how much do they cost
Have you checked the soot gram value in mvb’s with vcds?
When you say a flush.. have you physically removed the dpf? Did you carry out a forced regen of the dpf following that?
From observation using VAG-DPF (not the extensive data logging of @mmi) I'm certain that a T6.1 doesn't complete a regen at idle but gives up at around the 5 minute mark.
I still let mine run on though as my assumption (hope?) is that controlled pause to regen is not going to be dumping diesel...
Hi folks, looking at the soot measures vs calculated amounts, the minus figures is puzzling me?
Should I have rest the dpf in any way after completion of the forced regen?
Or would this munis fugue suggest :
A) a sensor is at fault
B) previous ownswer has changed dpf settings to try and hide...
So do you think the waste gate is opening when you drive it hard? Edit; hard to know if the reduced gas flow through the exhaust due to defective DPF would reduce the turbocharger speed enough to reduce boost pressure.
You mentioned elsewhere it’s a new van (to you), I wonder if it’s possible to...
How blocked was the dpf when you had it off the van? Had an Audi A6 3.0 quattro dpf that a filled up faster than it emptied with a hose pipe. No idea how it even managed to run the engine at tickover. Only thing that worked was having it properly cleaned.
...possibly there’s a hole, back flushing will just go the path of least resistance.
Different opinions but I believe that back flushing the DPF is a very bad idea, the DPF also contains the SCAT which may be affected by the chemicals.
IMO the only fix is a replacement DPF BUT you need to...
