I understand that’s because as part of the MoT test they will run the engine at high revs for a couple of minutes when checking emissions. They don’t really want to risk a cambelt breaking and destroying the engine.
Hi Pauly
I used Volkscraft in the end really good to talk with about my van needs and future work (cambelt etc) only a simple service but I’ll use them again
I was booking a cambelt change on my 65 plate T6.1 kombi and also told by VW it doesn't need changing for 130,000 miles no time limit.
I wanted it done anyway as last changed in June 2020 at 57,000 miles, now at 89,000.
Felt relieved today after technician reported a broken tooth, I now realise...
...independent engineer near Bolton Le Sands to check a T5 2015 Leisuredrive Vivante which I’m in the process of buying but after changing the cambelt and water pump the pulley failed so has now been replaced as well. They did not replace the pulley or tensioner when replacing the cambelt and...

The alternator belt makes sense to change same time too but you will find that the tensioner, belt and additional...

Just had mine done 4 years old 22k. I have the all in and they did it for free. Had cambelt and water pump changed at same time and they charged me £480. Quite happy with that for a main dealer tbf.
