Just an update
So I paid for my Cambelt doing around 80k miles I have a receipt but it’s not logged in the service book and it’s not in the VW computer, so they recommend I pay £800 for a new one, and also in the urgent attention was to replace my whole drivers seat as the cloth is slightly...
Hi Guys just booked my 2018 T6 150 DSG in for service and Mot as it's 4 years old in January I was expecting to replace cambelt / water pump and DSG gear box oil... VM service informed me that according to the chassis number my engine and DSG box are on 5 year schedule!
Its very hard to give advice on an issue like this, have you owned it from new? What type of milage does it do? Water pump is a serviceable item anyway so should have been changed 2021/2022 along with cambelt and aux pulleys.
Fresh 12 month MOT on it today along with a full service. Also topped up the ceramic coating. MOT tester said its a lovely example and loved the look of it.
Also forgot to mention in the add that the cambelt, cambelt tensioner, aux belt and aux belt tensioner were replaced earlier this year.
Check the VW fixed price on line, ring your local VW specialist and see how much cheaper they are….
VW should match the quote, but may not if they’re too busy.
Water pump is always suggested, and maybe a new auxiliary belt every 5 years.
There are threads which cover both.

I had to pay for a new cambelt kit and water pump and VW paid for the seal and labour. Not ideal, but gives me some peace of mind that new parts are fitted and not re-used items.
...to repair was garage diagnosed as crankshaft sensor giving intermittant signals. They changed it and I have had the van back for 1 week and its started again, flashing glow plug light when under load. Cambelt & water pump was changed prior to my purchase with no issues for the first 7 months.
...engine area, which again clears when it warms up
I did capture the noises on video , i have uploaded on youtube
Transporter cold engine noise, squeak and rattle - YouTube
These noise both clear when the van warms up, and are only there on a cold start in the morning
cambelt tensioner??
The new cambelt regime is "interesting" - my annual mileage is likely to increase as we get into the swing of campervanning, but at current usage levels I wouldn't reach 130k for another 21 years!
Whilst accepting that VW have removed the time element, what would folks suggest would be a...
...to melt and turn to hard plastic, this then got caught up in the bottom pulley and it slipped and was 3/4 of a turn out of timing
Put a new cambelt kit on it in the hope it might be ok.
But sounds like there is no compression.
Basically it’s engine rebuild time.
Belt and pump was only...
