Well I recently changed the timing belt on a 69 plate Ducato motorhome with just over 7k on it (chassis built late 2017). Visually the belt looked great, but it had definitely stiffened up a little bit through aging as it kept the shape of the pulleys it had been wrapped around.you ready for this... my 2018 t32 has done.... 8 thousand miles
its more of an expensive ornament...think its moved ten foot in 3 months...
what are we saying now on the belt and pump then? as i was under the impression i was well overdue on time.. definately not miles... lol
You have nothing to worry about as it should have the Ford 2.2 Puma engine in it which has a chain rather than a belt.I'll be checking my Peugeot MH 2014 on the back of that !!
I'm in UK, have had a T6 for around 6yrs, we got it ex display had 3k on clock. And I was told I had to have the cam belt changed every 4yrs now. As its dependent on time for decay on a rubber belt, not mileage and to stop them going during rigorous testing in MOTs? Is this balderdash?
hmmm...food for thoughtI was booking a cambelt change on my 65 plate T6.1 kombi and also told by VW it doesn't need changing for 130,000 miles no time limit.
I wanted it done anyway as last changed in June 2020 at 57,000 miles, now at 89,000.
Felt relieved today after technician reported a broken tooth, I now realise it had been hunting a couple of times idling at the lights.
It now sounds sweet,.not a cheap job but I'd rather take it on the chin than the alternative.
Thank you!
