...owned it since new, had the dreaded egr valve replaced on it and ever since then it has had an acidic smell when getting in the van the next day , its not to noticeable when driving but very bad when left over night and getting in the next day , any thoughts ? cracked egr pipe ? please help...

When I lived in Oz I had a module that was easily installed and removed for MOT that did the same job as an EGR blanking plate. It was brilliant. Might see if they do one for the Transporter.

hello all, I tried searching here and google for an answer but nothing came up... How do the VW dealers clean the EGR? I assume they disconnect the EGR pipes and then connect a machine that runs a cleaning fluid through the EGR, or am i expecting too much ?

@StudioMarks I paid £960 + VAT for the new EGR and also to replace the front and back pipes. This was back in December. All OEM parts.

Morning, my van has started making a whooshing noise like air escaping when accelerating, seems to be coming from the left side of the engine bay. No warning lights have come on. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers

Think we found the issue… the front egr pipe snapped at the join. Now replaced, codes cleared and seems to be running fine. Surprised the new pipe was only £60 from vw.

There is a split EGR pipe on the engine in the video, see soot on pipe and splattered over the coolant expansion tank.

I changed this MAP sensor that stays on the underside of the IC, it was totally blocked by old oil (see picture) and the mass air flow sensor.
