So... latest and hopefully last update for a while
Wife took the van in, headed off to softplay with our 2- year old and told the guy :
"I don't want a call to say 'you've cleared the code, she's good to go'- we are taking this van to France in a month I want it fixed...this van is our...
So I’ve had my T6 into a well known VAG Tuners in Glasgow for some diagnostic testing on why I was intermittently having the glow plug light up and flashing. The issue appears to be the EGR valve needs either replacing with associated pipes cleaned out too or to have the EGR deleted and coded...

...owned it since new, had the dreaded egr valve replaced on it and ever since then it has had an acidic smell when getting in the van the next day , its not to noticeable when driving but very bad when left over night and getting in the next day , any thoughts ? cracked egrpipe ? please help...
If you get it done make sure they replace the front egrpipe, it’s a new design - there’s a post on here somewhere with good pictures showing the difference between the old one and the new one
...but can say that our Volvo had a smell of fumes for months (I didn't drive it regularly so didn't know) that was due to a cracked or split EGRpipe. The garage replaced the pipe and didn't say anything at all about possible consequential damage - except to my wallet. A few months on and it...
When I lived in Oz I had a module that was easily installed and removed for MOT that did the same job as an EGR blanking plate. It was brilliant. Might see if they do one for the Transporter.
First dibs for forum members for the following items before I list them on eBay
1. 04L145749H charge air cooler. Replaced as precaution when turbo renewed.
2. 04L131512T EGR valve and cooler.
3. 03N145704 Biturbo and exhaust manifold. Large turbo ok. Small turbo shaft snapped. Can supply...
hello all,
I tried searching here and google for an answer but nothing came up...
How do the VW dealers clean the EGR? I assume they disconnect the EGRpipes and then connect a machine that runs a cleaning fluid through the EGR, or am i expecting too much ?
Morning, my van has started making a whooshing noise like air escaping when accelerating, seems to be coming from the left side of the engine bay. No warning lights have come on. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers
Hi Dell, the blocks are identical with a difference in the Wiring loom for me (prob due to parking heater and an extra pump in the water system) the only got ya seems to be the CXEC injectors are different and the Turbos have different EGR outlet tubes to the EGR Valve. (I think the newer...
Think we found the issue… the front egrpipe snapped at the join. Now replaced, codes cleared and seems to be running fine. Surprised the new pipe was only £60 from vw.
Yeah, there's a whole thread here
https://www.t6forum.com/threads/egr-flexi-pipe-exhaust-fumes-in-cab-hissing-from-engine-bay.8076/
I've found keeping the heater off means I don't get fumes in the cabin, I can use it with Aircon switched on and it's fine, just not without Aircon switched on...
I changed this MAP sensor that stays on the underside of the IC, it was totally blocked by old oil (see picture) and the mass air flow sensor.
At first it did not helped much, and I planned to also change EGR cooler and clean all pipes but then suddenly it was longer and longer from time to time...
...works normal but dont want to change gear 7, sometimes works perfect and sometimes no.
What I've checked:
Both Turbo
Boost Sensor, one near EGRpipe.
Made DPF off with soft. (test), nothing changes.
Changed Timing belt.
Changed DSG oil and filter.
EGR off (test) , nothing changes.
Tested all...
...camper conversion). Seems most noticeble the day after we've done a long run. Having done some reading here I assumed it was leaking rear EGRpipe. Had VW assist out and the guy's had the pipe off but can't spot a leak anywhere.
To me it does smell more like diesel than exhaust, but not 100%...
Tried soap and water. No bubbles, but can't see the underside of the rear pipe.
Is there anything else that can cause/leak fumes?
Also getting the 'insufficient gas flow' error code
The rear egr is the updated version. Have there been reports of the updated one splitting?
