Exactly, its for emissions B.S, they worked out putting a belt in the engine reduces emissii s somehow by a fartsworth.
Diesels have been around since the ark, companies know how to make a good engine, a reliable engine, but all this battle for low emissions means design is no longer about...
Fuel dilution of engine oil will cause engine wear, the more fuel the worse it is. I would have expected VW to do oil analysis to check for fuel dilution.
You’re right to think that 1.25L is significant, as far as I can remember the oil capacity is 7L.
I’ve never heard of a crankcase explosion...
Silver VW assist van now here. They were super quick.
Guy says that he sees it all the time especially on vans going regular shorter journeys.
Says exactly what has been said earlier I this thread. DPF can dump some fuel into the oil when it's cleaning itself out. Said he's sees this regular...
Thank you very much for response, do you maybe know what does "exaust gas jet volume in particle filter" means, and what should be value at idle or 2000rpm. mine is 700m3/h at 2000 rpm and 80 at 800 rpm.
Yes, this is a common problem with regeneration injection if the fuel is not burnt.
If the oil level has physically increased at the same temperature when last checked, without adding oil and no coolant emulsification.
To prove this you need a professional oil sample analysis, probably the van...
PS, I drove about 300 miles the first time it happened with no Ill effects. I would say worry not, but I do sell pianos for a living, so don't trust me obviously!
Glad you got the oil and fuel analysis done, those results improve your case significantly.
3% fuel dilution in 2000 miles is high. Make sure you present the actual milage and not an estimate to VW.
I assume you have proof of the oil grade / spec that was used in the last oil change.
To be fair, at least you know what you've got. Cam belts are routine these days and brake discs are simply consumables. Trailing arm bushes are also quite straight forwards wear and tear.
Maybe too much oil due to fuel dilution? If that’s the case the oils lubrication properties (film strength) with have de-graded resulting in engine wear.

Thanks @mmi would an extended voice clip help with this at all? If it is this fault would it be best to be going to VW direct or a vw specialist?
I haven't noticed the oil levels at the moment, I checked it when I first got the van and then it sat for 3 months not being used until it could be...
Thank you, already sent 2 letters via trading standards advice. but dealer said what did I expected out of this and I said new engine and he said you'll never get that it's a 2013 second hand van. So obviously I've took it further, and he said he's passed it on to the legal team they deal with...
JLR Ingenium 2.0 tdi engines are also affected, they are renowned for heavy wear, frequent service intervals and blocked dpf's, I wouldn't touch one. There are owners who have had oil analysis results showing 20% dilution! Those engines surely won't still be working in the years ahead!
IMO the key is to establish why the oil level is too high before deciding how to deal with it.
If it has been overfilled then yes, removing some is appropriate.
But if diesel has entered the sump due to incomplete regenerations I'd rather change the oil, diluted oil surely cannot protect your...
Some good reading for those unfamiliar with oildilution. IMO a good reason not to accept long service intervals and to regularly check the oil level regardless of instrument monitoring.
Some vans are approaching the cost of a small house with the maintenance regime of a food mixer...
It’s a big leap from the likely exposure in real life to OmG tHe KEMIKULZ wiLl Eat Ur BrAin!!11!
Yes the fumes are harmful which is why we make sure they exhaust outside the van so they can be diluted before we breathe them in, and put mitigation on the main source (vehicle engine exhaust). I...
I havent looked at your earlier posts but my initial thought is to ask what engine code yours is? I ask as mine is a 2015 Euro 5 140PS CAAC and I added some LiquiMoly CeraTec and that quietened it down significantly.
The tags above may help signpost you to similar threads, particularly this...
it was a minimal amount dropped out, and all details are on the vw system, so in the event of a failure, it is all there
id rather have the oil replaced, but according to the tech, there was not the urgent need as the levels were not way up the stick, only a touch over the max
I wish it were better news. Maybe have a word with Trading Standards, possibly the dealer has had some previous complaints.
The oil sample analysis is obviously backing up the compression test results but normally it’s very important to have the oil hours / mileage in the data, I see that was...
In my previous employment oil analysis was critical to machinery reliability.
Condition monitoring requires more than one analysis as trends needs to be seen.
Once you have the trends showing metals, soluble water, carbon, fuel dilution, sodium and a few other contents combined with oil hours...
