Dual Mass Flywheel Gone After 52k

Just took my 2017 T6 to local VW for a service at 75k. They told me the flywheel was knocking and are replacing it under warranty. Is this an extended warranty item and r are they doing an “as required” product recall on these?

Can’t say this is a good flywheel surely?

Well I flagged it 4 months ago to Vw as under extended warranty but it’s got worse. They told me to buy an engine under tray to dampen the sound

    Oil inside wiring loom!!!

I didn't hang onto it much after the issues arose as I was expecting the MB extended warranty to come to the rescue but needless to say they didn't want to know anything about it. The oil ingress in the sensor wasn't the easiest to spot as it was subtle and not as such flooded in oil.

    Steering left after alignment?

You’re probably right, but not enough of an issue until tyres need replacing. Wouldn’t have replaced the trailing arm except it was covered by an extended warranty.

    - 204ps Bi-Turbo CXEB T6 Engine & Turbo problems -

...Mine is not showing any issues yet but it is very worrying reading all this about the VW engines and in particular the CXEB issues now. I have the all in 2 year extended warranty but that runs out in Jan 2026. l'd estimate barely 56k on my clock by then! Might convert mine to pedal power...

EGR flush apparently "not covered" by VW extended warranty?

You can get a new EGR for much less than that. If the EGR is clogged at 22K you either have a contributory problem or it’s a mis-diagnosis.

VWCV warranties - All-in vs Extended?

...Mar to 2nd Apr . I've had it for the last 2 years at £26 a month, now rising to £34 a month. Main reason for taking before was extended warranty as had a few issues with the electric sliders (in today having another part replaced). To me doesn't make sense on the service side as only doing...

T6.1 SOS Error: emergency call. Workshop!

...as it's also how VW provide over the air software updates and navigation map updates (at least for the first 3 years of inclusive WeConnect subscription) You seem to have unfortunately had two for the common 6.1 faults. It's certainly a vehicle it's worth considering the extended warranty on.

    Judder in 1st and reverse

2 weeks ago I had my DMF replaced under the VW extended warranty and the gearbox was also covered if that was the issue!

    New EGR fitted, now what?

...on the clock and since then have had no issues other than this coming up now after 50,000 mls. All regular services done. Got VW extended warranty but have refused to cover this under the extended warranty. @TeamD - if you don't mind me asking a) did you replace both the valve and the...

Can’t say this is a good flywheel surely?

...fine and they all do it. Do bing me off basically. I could t waste any more time and days off work fighting it with them. It was extended warranty. They were supposed to have replaced it 25k ago as they flagged it as an issue, I had no idea. But the first time I picked it up it felt no...

Did you get that in writing? If so send it to Customer Services and get their arse dragged through a bush.

    Front crank shaft seal leaking

It is quite common, my dealer wanted £750ish, fortunately I had extended warranty. I heard some dealers wouldn’t fix it under the ‘all in’ warranty, but clearly some do, mine’s got a Revo and they still did it.

    Buying without a service history

...vehicle, unless I've missed that somewhere. It may be a Vw passenger car dealer, which is why there would be no manufacturer extended warranty, so they can have the 'all-in' as said in the original post. Would also make sense as to why they can't check the service history 'online' as they...

    Front crank shaft seal leaking

Mine’s just gone again, so one at 3.5 years old done under extended warranty and now 18 months later it’s gone again (total mileage covered 40,000 miles) so I’m going to claim under the All In warranty which I know isn’t always straightforward with dealers. Will update this thread on the outcome.

VW All in plan .. again

My first crank seal was done at around 3.5 years of the 5 year extended warranty and then again under the All In, but as a gesture of goodwill, although if I’d have pushed it the first repair should/would have come with a 2 year guarantee on materials and labour anyway. Vote with your feet and...

    2019 204PS BiTDI engine failure

The injector was changed but did not make any difference. They have just told me that due to low compression, they have to follow VW Protocol and next stop is new engine! What is TPI? No, no extra warranty Didn’t seem to have any oil issue Nothing has been mentioned on the turbo other than...

VWCV warranties - All-in vs Extended?

Mine is 3 years old today, I took a further 6 months extended warranty out when I bought the van ( at 6 months old) . Now wondering if I don't have any VW assistance anymore so unsure what direction to go in? Do I take out roadside assistance with an eye to an all in plan in 6 months? Any advice...
