I'm not sure if I understood correctly. The Body builder guidelines (T6) chapter 2.5.3.3 has complete description of functions on all pins in all three plugs.
Unfortunately the courtesy circuit (switched live and switched negative for the doors) is not wired into the plugs.
A wiring diagram for...
When I got my van I specified the ElectricalInterface (IS1) for about £40. I was kinda hoping it would come in useful in the future and for £40, it was worth the punt.
I am not electrically minded (at all), but it looks as though it could be quite a cheap, worthwhile item to spec' (if you know...
As a novice with limited funds is there anyway I can use the "Electrical interface for external use" to connect electrical items to my leisure battery?
Want to add a couple of 12v lighter sockets to connect a powered coolbox and charge phones for passengers in the back etc
Having 3 separate battery systems on the go will complicate things and limit what products you can find, there are various charging/voltage converting devices out there that are designed to interface with 2 separate batteries but 3 ?? and even the ones that do 2 will generally prioritise one...
Good morning all,
Sorry to bring this post alive again but I've looked back at this multiple times over the past 2 weeks when deciding what I'm doing with my electrics. Very good and informative but I have a couple of questions if somebody could assist.
For my set up I plan to go with the...
...to the terminals of the main vehicle battery under the bonnet though I am wondering if the connection can be made at the "electrical interface for external connection - ls1" under the passenger seat (Australia) or other. Or do I need to route through to the main vehicle battery terminal under...
Hi and welcome!
I too generally avoid fora but this is the only one I subscribe to. It is a font of knowledge and good advice. It is also something of an entertaining read.
You should have a pair connectors - where green/white is only on the one from Webasto.
The most sophisticated way would be to add a pin to the other "van side"connector (vacant pin 1) -->

Thanks for that, I thought I’d tested A9 today & i’m sure it was only high on cranking & went low once the engine started. I’ll check it again tomorrow.
@Pauly, can you supply the cables?

Even in the portal there is no additional documentation about IS1 (although so referenced in the document).
Linking another thread of same subject --> Electricalinterface...What is it for?
Thanks for that link, mmi.
Here's the latest AutoScan - and as you suggested, clearing the DTCs removed most of the errors.
As it happens, I did connect the two camera wires to pins 7 and 17 of the Can gateway (soldered to the wires near the gateway plug) and tried to activate the HBA module...
Yes, my understanding is that the FL_7E0963272B__0009.frf firmware has the parking heater enabled by VW already. Thus, no Webasto unlock is necessary. If you have access to the VW flashing tools, that option is cheaper since no Webasto upgrade kit is needed. I doubt that the w-bus control units...
What is the Electricalinterface for external use (terminal block in driver´s seat)?
I ask because I was hoping it could be a good place to wire my dash-cam in to.....Any ideas or wiring diagrams available.
Thanks in advance.
I had a Wabasco diesel heater put in as part of my conversion in June for c£700 as I wanted a warranty on the fitting more than the product.
I was sceptical as I’d heard mixed reports but pleased to say mine has been fantastic so far.
IS1 - Electricalinterface for external use, terminal strip in driver’s underseat box, factory option, 70 euros.
Consists of three "plugs": gray, yellow, purple as in the picture.

The IS1 has no connections to the leisure battery - just "control/power supplies" from/to the van itself.
You could connect the 12V sockets directly to the leisure battery (through a fuse though).
