Anyone had the EGR pipe replaced by a dealer after the vans warranty has expired. Fumes entering the cab is a safety issue. Should be subject to a recall in my opinion.

I had the rear EGR pipe replaced under warranty about 2,000 miles ago. Was driving along yesterday and became conscious that the engine was noticeably noisier under acceleration. Stopped and had a look and nothing seen but it was noisier for sure from the drivers side of the engine. Carried on...

Check if your EGR pipe isn't split on the bellows, common fault....... I was getting a smell of fumes in the cab too. Replaced the EGR pipework, VW have upgraded the bellows on the replacement.
