    "smart" meter rant

Whaaaat! Good tip - I need to check my makita chargers, pretty shocking design to burn 100w at idle!

Solar starter battery maintainer install - thoughts?

Maybe not a hack as such but having explored using an Ablemail AMT12-2 battery maintainer (in conjunction with the existing EHU mains charger) I abandoned the idea of connecting to the starter battery via the tow socket. I felt installing the AMT12-2 was a rather more elegant and practical...

    What Have You Bought Today?

Well they arrived, sadly as the sun disappeared so currently not charging just giving a low voltage alarm on the Bluetti. Far more solid than expected though and seriously weighty - the included cover is essential.

I changed my 100W panel to a 200 W one and it came off clean, replaced the vinyl and restuck the new panel on with no damage to the roof.

    Ecoflow Delta 2

...club. They are awesome mobile power boxes. The only issue using them as a substitute leisure battery is charge speed. Limited to 8A via 12vdc. About 100w . 1000wh battery, charged at 100w is 10 hours with the engine running or with solar. So keep an eye on your loads and your re charge...

Clueless solar question -> Ecoflow, Jackery etc.

On question 1, you don't have to put the panel on the roof. We use a 100w folding panel and take it with us only when we need it. Pete

Portable solar panel to ehu 3 pin possible?

Ok, that's exactly what we do. If you have a standard leisure battery then generally a 100W panel (with built in controller) will do, unless you have unusually heavy power demands. The solar panel (with controller) connects to your leisure battery (wherever that is). But this also depends on...

Solar panel not charging - advice wanted

a few pics of the panel will help. . . but normally a 100w panel should show 19v ish.

Any recommendations for portable solar panel that fits on dash without kerfuffle?

Just for anyone browsing... Got an Ecoworthy fold up 100w solar panel. Fits on dash when parked - see pic above posted by DellMassive - that is the one. In full sun, when solar panel is on dash it supplies about 20-30 watts which is more than I was expecting as cells not angled exactly and are a...

help with another Leisure electrics shopping list

Hi thanks for reply The inverter is to run a small slow cooker, about 100w and our hot choc machine at 500w, from the 240 sockets in van, when we aren’t on EHU. I would say 48hrs would be the max we would be in the van without driving or plugging in to EHU. Building van to use in all seasons...

100w solar panel enough for a fridge?

Hi all, quick question ref a 100w solar panel that I’m having installed. I’ve also asked for a dometic fridge to be installed. Would the 100w panel be enough to keep the leisure battery topped up and keep the fridge going? Especially over winter.

    Understand Solar Energy readings

...figure to look at here is "P max" as this is the highest overall power the panel achieved. I'm assuming from the figures you have a nominal 100w panel, so on the "2 days ago" you got very close to ideal with a peak power of 90w, but the days before you got very low values in the 10-15w...

Solar starter battery maintainer install - thoughts?

I tried to use 40w on the dash of my T-Cross whilst lockdown was on - not good enough. I then used a 100w panel that just fitted across the dash which gave enough juice to keep all the electrics ticking over whilst being used. The screen does cut down the output considerably so I don't know that...

What options do we have for charging Power station?

the only draw back with these portable power packs is the slow recharge rate from 12v. . . all are limited to the 100w / 8A input limiter, as above this the 12v plug socket will melt.. . . . in a nutshell they can take longer to charge than drain down - so net effect is they run flat over the...
