...check all connections in the right hand mirror today, and possibly the roof aerial. I'm hoping that sorting these connections will remove the "sos emergency call restricted workshop!" message instead of having to go to VW and pay lots. I've pressed the SOS button and a call went through but I...
...heated mirrors. And the two small cables for the two boxes that are inside the mirror one is a radio antenna, not sure what the other is.
When I turned on ignition I immediately got the emergency call restricted workshop error. Also have a red light in the ceiling console next to the SOS...
...but took 5 months.
Had two issues with my 2021 t6.1 (seems more common in this year).
- WeConnect (although connected to VW servers and SOS light green) would not allow the setting of Primary User, gave an error of "Contact Customer Service"
- Multiple restarts of Discover Media head unit...
...an extra twist!
Van was bought new (it’s a 6.1) and converted to a camper in early 21. No issues at all until the back end of last year when the SOS fault started to appear intermittently. Always resets when ignition restarted, and given the history on here, it didn’t bother me greatly...
Apparently the VW tech tested that on his own van.
And picking the lock or possibly using the surf key does not set off the alarm.?
The SOS module was removed, and the immobiliser coding was all messed up, (he said filled up with random code)... Plus the fud box was pulled out.
So there is a...
I've had an intermittent SOS fault, last week the van went in for service, and Bowden cable recall, apparently "new software" was also loaded to fix the SOS issue. Now have the SOS fault every time I start the Van. Booked back in on the 8th of July for investigation.
Hi my t6 has the same sos falt and is just out of warrantee. They wanted £2500 to fix something that i have never used. Heater vent was stuck only pumping out hot air. Had pay £700 to get that fixed. Thing thing is falling apart.
There is an interface you can get now that solves the SOS issue when fitting an aftermarket head unit:

Thanks. Thats a nice summary.
Would you be able to drop me details of the updgrade cost if I get the van to you please.
Would also be interested in the cost of a signature package updgrade as well.
Wow that’s shocking just had mine in for first service flagged up the SOS flashing so went back they blamed the aftermarket digi dash not being coded to the vehicle, something a main dealer can’t do… I think there is just a lack of training and a certain amount of can’t be arsedery…!
Seems to be...
Thanks. Not a lot I can do about it with me and the van 1000miles from home. Interesting point about signal. We was in the middle of nowhere when it started.
Any Idea how much a new sos module is? Warranty ran out 2 weeks ago! I do have the option to extend it though, for a cost of course.
Finally got the software updates I asked for. Wireless android auto now works and no more sos calls so far. Only problem now is sat nav does not work, spining circle with starting sat nav is displayed with the world map. Quick fix ?
...in the kenwood unit and was not keen on cutting the dash to bits.. the other thing that struck me was a comment they say its the only VW approves unit to work with the SOS button..
My 2 questions are:
Is the connects2 vw approved like thq are saying?
Does the alpine harness integration...
Let me know if you need more guidance. It does sound like your SOS needs to be changed.
I got Darrens number at VanHaven and VW Reading called him each time.
I also now need to be careful of future garage based updates as they will also knock out the dash / rear speakers. Over the air updates...
