...with error messages on the radio display saying
Software update and No data connection. The update never completes.
I've also had an "Emergency SOS call Activated" message in instruments flash up for maybe half a second then dissapear
and nothing happens.
I have recently had a new...
Will this also work with the digital dash, air con, ADAS system etc? Any view if it'll end my discover media woes of taking up to 30mins to boot? I've simply had enough of VW hence throwing money at possible solutions?
I’ve had the same issue since December, 4 visits later still waiting. Had the same as you and after chasing they eventually changed the SOS module only then to be told my GPS aerial in the drivers door mirror needs to be replaced as they need that to connect to the sos module.
Went in Saturday...
...I lost knocked mine off I cut this wire so I could remove the hanging wing mirror to not damage the paint work.
That module for me caused an SOS error and when i replaced it the error went away. I didn’t cut the one for the dab so not sure if if that also causes the same error. But you’ll...
I have just bought a T6.1. FM reception non existent, DAB intermittent, SOS error on dash.
I've removed passenger door card and mirror to find that the aerial wire that is earthed on the door passes into the bodywork but has been cut. When I opened up the mirror the rest of it isn't there...
...of that now. when they told me the issue in the garage I nearly fell off my chair because they said it would cost nearly £1000 to replace the sos unit (going off memory, could have been just over £1k).
I only went there as I wanted a software update to listen to music whilst driving with...
Maybe because it is an Australian model and we don't have DAB or SOS it is not
connected.
I have looked everywhere and no other connectors for it to plug into.
Thanks
AFAIK the DAB antenna in a 6.1 is in the wing mirror.
(Just checked, DAB/FM/GPS right mirror, FM left mirror according to wiring diagrams)
The shark fin unit on the roof is the 4G/LTE modem and comms for the SOS system et al.
Thank you - and would you advise getting the outstanding issues fixed with VW first?
Apologies I have no idea how the "system" works, all I know is they tell me the boot delay issues are caused by the SOS module -and an independent VW specialist said it was more likely the "5F" module
...a T6.1 in Pure Grey picked up from the dealer two weeks ago.
Annoyingly, the day I picked up the van they told me there was a fault with the SOS button and some of them have been calling emergency services randomly, so they disabled it for me.
Whilst I'm not that bothered about the SOS...
Thanks, I’ve literally just got mine back Friday, mine was the 5F infotainment unit was faulty, I was told the part was £3.5k!! But I’ve not paid anything for it to be replaced as although it’s well out the warranty (20 plate) I’ve said it should last the life of the vehicle as it’s not...
...cover back on you need to unclip the unit from ceiling (again use trim tool and prise off) and clip the cover back in place from the inside out.
Small gap in there, with all the SOS and light button cabling but would be a sunglasses holder or storage area if designed right.

Thanks. no nothing else weird at all. Everything else is working fine and no other warning lights, other than the engine management warning came in when it stalled first time. But went off immediately after restart and hasn’t come back on.
