Ideal, thanks for the reassurance! My plan it to feed it into the AC port on the inverter.
I'd like to use the inverter to send power to a 2 gang socket (also with a couple of USBs) on it that I would install on the side of my unit. My thoughts were to wire this with a UK plug into the...
The seat base on most swivel seats doesn't move, just the seat and mount on top of it. Unless there's a weird swivel seat out there that does (double seat?).
This is what I was looking to do, but I couldn’t get the cable to route through the top of the tailgate. I had a hole already from vanshades I’d removed so I used a wire to try and run it along the green line I’ve drawn behind the metalwork. It always got stuck at the red line though in the...
Not a single build thread, but posts in various leisure electrics threads and the ‘WHYDTYVT’ thread. Mine was an upgrade to lifepo4 plus solar which also meant replacing the existing, but unsuitable, CBE kit and taking the opportunity to relocate things from the rear wardrobe.
In short(ish), it...
All depends where you can mount the busbars, one you've worked that out you can basically put the battery in whichever way you want to.
Essentially, work out where the existing cable ends that are on the battery at the moment will reach, mount the busbars in a good location based on this, and...
For those that might be interested there is a second grommet.
Just look for a route of least resistance. There is also a nice grove which naturally holds the cable (test fitting only, but would secure it )
Now for the next fun part.
Cable is threaded through rubber gaiter. Now how to get it to rear of camera. I read that in my next photo a hole was drilled so cable was threaded behind panel to hole where my finger is pointing and a hole was drilled. Threaded using fish wire.
Cable from front...
Is that the one under the battery, will the big black fuse holder with ring crimp that comes with the kit clip in there? I'm also hoping someone has the VW instructions that normally comes with the kit, and hoping it shows the path for routing the cable. I've found a Westfalia one but it is very...
Ok thanks for info
Yes, would probably get cables made up, as don’t need them longer than they need to be.
It was just that the guy installing all the electrics recommended having inverter under passenger seat with battery, then having all the chargers across to drivers seat base? , then I...
Yeah that is of slight concern. I think regs is 2m and I’m at about 3 ish. But it’s through grommets, and routed through channels so minimal chance of rub and nowhere it can be trapped or cut.
FYI I’ve just stripped the cab out for another issue and the 240 cable is as new. It routes out of the...
found the void near shelf, thanks for that info!!
I have also received 2core cable as directed to.
Can I ask though. Cable is mighty (appears reinforced around the two cables with wire.
Will this work? Do I need a heavy duty wire stripping tool to cut this?
Did I order the wrong wire for...
Sorry to resurrect this post!
Wire #3, looks to be around 10mm in size and routes to under the passenger seat, fused at 100A.
Could this be larger than 10mm? It seems the rating of a thin walled 10mm cable is 70A, and 16mm around 110A.
We’re these photos taken from a T6 or a T6.1 or would they...
On the downside I think the arrangement on mine puts more stress on the LIN cable to the shunt, I keep meaning to try and find better routing for that.
I'd also love to have the full partition and lid for the battery area, even with a high end 6.1 there is the miserly minimum on mine.
I’m in exactly the same place Aidan.
I’m thinking to either route the cables through the rear ‘open’ end of the pop top ie not into the interior via a deck gland, securing the cables via my pop top fabric bungee and then through the tailgate hinge bungs using short glands, or directly through...
Sorted it! Thanks to @Absolut5 and @Dellmassive for giving me the confirmation of a viable route, to explore with confidence.
Just for others who might be looking to do this - it’s only this tricky if you don’t have removable panels. My converters have cut corners in a few areas and this was...
