Skyline poptop trim to allow solar panel cabling into cabin

Afternoon all, decided to add a solar setup to my ctek 250 which is located under the drivers seat. Roof bars and solar panel fitted successfully, but now I'm considering the best way to route the cables. Luckily I have barn doors meaning i have the seals for the tailgates brackets to route...

    Wiring route

What’s stopping my cables from going from the tailgate grommet to the hinge grommet on the RHS? I’m trying to ad solar cable and wanted to run it across from one side to the other inside body work but it stops half way. I have Barn Doors

Gland to fit Tailgate hinge hole.

Hiya. I'm in the process of fitting a solar panel to my pop-top roof. Does anyone know an appropriate IP68 glad that will fit in the existing tailgate holes at the rear of the van? Thanks

    Wiring route

I've got the same job planned for tomorrow, feeding a couple of 12v LED light strings power wires through that barn door grommet into somewhere near the base of the wardrobe to get power from the Cerbo relays, while I'm in the wardrobe I'll be getting the solar cables ready for my new Renogy 220...

    Roof Light Bar Recommendations?

If you have barn doors then a popular route to the roof is the tailgate hinge cutout on the body, which will be filled with a gasket. It's probably a long route for your use case and you'd probably need to run cable forward along roof rails or similar. On the plus side you might find that...

    Rubber gaskets above barn doors?

They're the mounting positions for the tailgate versions and are quite commonly used for what you describe: https://www.t6forum.com/search/1332918/?q=Tailgate+solar&o=relevance

    Just another AA Self Build.........

It sits over the tailgate near the hinge, no drilling/bolting at that section. Its drilled and bolted at the bottom, just one bolt from memory at the very bottom of the ladder. Seems very stable to be honest, been up and down quite a few times (especially when doing the solar panel)

    Bike racks (again)

I’ve got 1250nm struts and the tailgate works fine without the rack on. It opens normally but is a bit heavier to pull down the first 2/3rds of travel when closing it. I’ve only ever opened it with a single road bike on and that was absolutely no issue. I don’t open it with more or heavier...

First time in the T6.1 campervan purchase market

Have you asked Cambridge Campervans if they could source/spec one to your requirements? They pretty much did that for me: 150, DSG, LED lights, twin captains chairs (heated), heated screen, tailgate, retro fitted rear camera, RIB bed, solar etc. They're good people (no connection other than a...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Started prep for the solar cables - conduit run down the side of the tailgate and grommets in the rear light and behind the small corner panel - seemed the easiest place to fish them from. I’m much more comfortable drilling there than through the roof.

    Solar panel on bike rack

I really don’t want to fix panels to my roof so what are your thoughts on fixing a panel to the bike rack? We don’t have any bikes so it is currently just a very expensive washing line and it occurred to me that I could fix a panel as per the picture. The cabling is already in place as I have...

HiLo / Horizon roof owners: Solar

If the base van has barn doors a popular route in is via the grommets filling the punched holes were the tailgate hinges would fit. You may be able to use that and a curly cord to connect things without drilling any holes as this company does...

    Installing leisure electronic setup/advice

Hey all, I'm new here and this is my first time posting. I just got myself an ex-AA van and am really excited to be part of the community and get to work on my van. I am feeling a little overwhelmed to have just spent a lot on everything (I think) I need to setup the electrics in my T6. I've...

    What's your MPG?

Bit nerdy but I thought I'd share - I did a roundtrip to Cornwall from Bolton this weekend which was 600 miles in total and despite a bit of traffic on the way down I managed 44.27 mpg in my 2019 150bhp kombi with a fixed solar panel on the roof rack I stuck at 60mph all the way and did about...

Solar starter battery maintainer install - thoughts?

The AMT ks more fit and forget, so long as your leisure battery is also recieving charge from solar/EHU For me I like the challenge of making it work and also, for now, I'm keeping the van pretty much stock and I had almost all the bits to hand. With where I park tailgate on to the garage it's...
