Well first pick your tyre size: depending on load rating needs you're probably going to want something like 235/55/R18s (there really aren't good A/S options available in other sizes other than 255/45/R18 which is ok in availability terms but looks a little 'under-tyred' size wise IMHO).
And...
Have you noticed any difference in fuel economy? What wheels did you have before?
I have sportlines with 255/45/18 which look nice but considering I want to camp more they aren't the most practical for fields and car parks with 450NM torque:oops:.
65 profile suggests the speedo will be quite...
Hi there I,m going to be putting 255/55/18 continental contacts up for sale if any of you guys are interested. There rated for t32 aswell. Pics to follow
Thanks for info, interesting your comment that the OEM Sportsline looking undersized and possible looking under-tyred. your opinion is interesting and gives room for thought so I thank you for that.
if I going to the cost and expense of changing then maybe I should be looking at 19s
not...
I'm looking for a tyre that means I have less chance of being stuck in a muddy field (like I was last weekend ). Currently running 255/45/18 but am thinking as others have mentioned about the Wildpeaks in a 235/55/18 if I can find any in stock. Does anyone have a picture of this tyre fitted? I'm...
Hi TonyJH, do you mind me asking what type of tyre are your 255/45s? Found the Bridgestone Weather controls I had have worn to slicks very quickly - surveying other options. Thanks!
Tyres are 235/55/18 104 michelin cross climate suv- no rubbing and no significant speedo change from stock 17" Devonports with whatever tyres came on them! The wider tyres may work, I really wanted the michelin all season tyres and they were load rated for the T32 and may have been the best...
Hi @Soundz.
So... in terms of the difference in price with the 255/45 vs the 255/55 - my guess would be (though I'm not an expert in these things) is simply that it's one of those things that when more of a product is sold, they can bring the cost down. So it could just be that the 255/55 has...
Not same wheel, but almost. Just to give my 50 cents on how it looks with an oversized 18" wheel.
Eibach 40mm raise kit and 18" Rally Racing Van with Toyo Open Country 255/5518 A/T tyres.
The van is about maybe 207cm tall with this combination.
Interesting thread.....I have BF Goodrich on 17" rims for the winter and they drone quite a lot and gets worse at speed and they still bang and crash over poor road surfaces.
I am just changing summer wheels from 20" rims down to 18" because of the state of the roads near me (and the fact that...
I’m still running my JBWs as winters, albeit I haven’t fitted them this year (yet?). They’re in good condition considering they were seconds.
I use PCD 15mm spacers on the rear. They send you longer bolts (coloured black, can’t recall if they offer alternative colours) and I just use some...
I have an Acapulco Blue currently on standard 17s but have a set of black 18x8.5 waiting to go on - that certainly looks smart. How wide are those rims though? Just a tiny bit concerned 235 won't be wide enough for 8.5" wide rims. Do you know how much yours is lowered by too? Mine is a T32 and...
I have a similar problem. 255/55/18 tyres on a new T6.1. Speedo under reads by about 10% and ACC is unavailable more than half the time. Just been to VW Van Centre, which said a diagnostic check on the ACC blames the wheel/tyre size. They recommend reverting to the original size wheels and...
I've recently just had some AX7s put on my van, they are paired up with a set of supermetal 18" wheels. The ride is much better than the standard hankooks and claytons. I no longer wince when hitting them unavoidable potholes. My speedo is now reading over due the size of the wheel being larger...
