...Looking to buy a 2024 t6.1 in the next few weeks and I’ve been getting some insurance quotes to see what I might end up paying. I’ll be installing a tracker and I think I have 8 years no claims. Quotes I’m getting are around £1200. I’m 51 too
Any good place to get a quote from ins appreciated
I went with 3 which is for smart alternator with lithium LB but others have it working fine in the default setting 4 (smart alternator with LA LB). It just tweaks the trigger voltages slightly. If you have high parasitic drain (tracker etc) then you may find setting 7 better.
That’s not bad. It comes down reasonably quickly as they gain NCB and more years driving. As long as they keep a clean record!!
Maybe worth sneaking a tracker in there to keep an eye!
Result.
Caravan Guard quoted me £343 with a Thatcham Cat1 tracker fitted, or £358 with a Cat1 alarm.
After some research it seems that the T6 Highline comes with a Cat1 alarm from the factory.
So a quick phone call and an extra £15 to Caravan Guard and I'm covered for another year for £291 less...
Bizarrely, insurers aren't usually interested in immobilisers - only in trackers - and they'll specify the minimum Thatcham category required rather than a specific make/model. Cat S7 trackers are good; Cat S5 trackers are better; Cat S5+ trackers are Cat S5 trackers with remote immobilisation...
no mate. on my list ;)
Have dash cam and tracker. Just came back from a week away and it wouldn't start at the airport. Luckily I keep a power pack in the van which always jumps it easily enough.
I'm about to get a vw and looking at security
I'm looking at both visual and electronic methods
Dislok for visual
S5 Meta or scorpion with tracker, fob etc
A metal post for my drive way
With regards to meta or scorpion are they much the same based upon a geo fencing, fob, monitoring etc
I...
I think it’s always been like it, I’ve only had the van 6 months.
Dashcam is on the LB already (I think!), and I can’t believe a Tracker would draw enough to do that to the starter battery…
I’ll try and get photos of SB and LB… but I suspect it might be a case of pulling fuses to try and work...
...to give them a call as lookingbfor similar set up from them for our t6.1.
We're interested in the 345w solar set up and also some questions for the tracker they do for £99, it'll give us an idea for trackers and our liking of the new van before we commit to more expensive subscribed tracker...
This is the rib with AF depending which tracker you have there’s no link but they say to log onto your insurance portal My Adrian Flux ! But when you go into this there’s no link as our tracker is Nano . So we have no idea if the tracker working ?
As I said I don’t think I will be renewing any...
...collecting the van rather than assuming it would be as simple as a car!!
When weather and light (and work!) allows I’ll be looking to sort the connection on the negative terminal. Turns out it’s not the tracker as been back to the fitter of that and they’ve confirmed. So who knows what it is?
@Ali-G I'd go with a tracker for the extra piece of mind, taking the insurance discount as an offset, but wouldn't go for the cheapest.
Easy to spend someone else's money though. MetaTrak would be my choice if I was in the market for one.
Disk lock is perfect it’s very hard to break so thieves will walk away . All other alarms and trackers can be hacked. Plus at home have a camera pointing at the Van
Thanks anyway appreciated. You couldn’t give me both part numbers could you?
I’ll be getting a tracker from you in the next few months, just need to sort some other bits on the van first
100% agree willth @Sabre waste of money and 3 seconds to defeat. If you want peice of mind and/or something insurance approved look at a tracker immobiliser system from the like of MetaTrak
