Turbo can be refurbished at midland turbos for about £1k.
I'd push them on the DPF if it's using a high amount of oil the DPF could be contaminated and there for will leave sticky hard to burn off deposits in the DPF which will cause the DPF to fail later.
At 80k and having a new engine fitted...
I assume they have replaced fuel filters as part of the initial work completed?
Also have they checked for a clogged DPF, especially of the vehicle was left idling for a while and not able to do a regen?
Thanks for the update. If the MAF replacement doesn't do the job, I'll suggest the DPF (I'm hoping the garage will have checked that out though..... ).
...I will regen as frequently 50 miles. I consume oil at a rate of 1L per 2000 miles which contributes to my soot build up.
I’d delete my dpf in a heartbeat but obviously there’s MOT issues associated with that.
Currently exploring a delete, with a yearly refit of a dpf just for the MOT then...
Thanks - perfect!
Well, first some confusing data. Indeed, the engine seems to be in almost continuous DPF regeneration.
At the moment of the data capture the engine had already been in DPF regen for 10 minutes (607 s). Thus there had been only some 11 minutes of no-regen in between. Normally...
I run Carista 24/7 in my obd port and then pair it with this app to keep an eye on my dpf soot levels and when regens are taking place.

...How does the ECU decide this?
1.The Differential pressure sensor is under reading
or
2.Particulates being picked up by the sensor aft of the DPF module.
or
3.Another method that I cant think of?
As its a Brand new DPF I doubt that is the reason unless VW dropped it a few times before I...
...so I assume euro 5 and that’s the reason I’m not seeing it.
Just pricing up a remap for it and options are around $1300 for egr delete (I think this is just remapped out of the system) and approx $2500 for remap, egr and dpf delete with the dpf being gutted.
Necessary to spend the extra or not?
Is there any additional data that you are able to see with the digital dash installed? Wondering if you can see things like DPF soot level on there without need for an OBD scanner plugged in?
Probably the constant attempts to regen have led to the oil dilution. I'd get the DPF replaced, oil changed and see how it goes from there Revo maps have a decent reputation, so I'd leave that be until you've had the other work done and run it.
One other option is to get the DPF professionally cleaned. There are loads of companies out there offering this service. My independent says around 70% of his emission related work is blocked DPFs
...any leaks.
However what I have noticed is that when I'm driving the 'Particle Filter, diff pressure Sensor 1 bank 1' (which I assume is the pre DPF sensor) reads approx 20-100mbar but when I'm at idle this drops to around 1mbar which is less than Sensor 2 (I assume post DPF). Surely the...
I was under the impression that with the AB delete you had to smash through the DPF... Or it will just clog as there is no way of burning off the soot.
...to be fair, VeeWee. They have the dealer level diagnostics machine so should be able to tell what the issues are. I've got Carista and forced DPF clean, it wasnt that sooted anyway but this doesnt fix the problem, unless that sensor is not registering correctly.
I'll ask them to take a look...
Check out thread [T6_measured] Monitoring DPF regeneration, DPF condition, EGR operation - there were other symptoms and eventually p0191 fault. Change of rail pressure sensor improved the situation a lot although I think the jury is still out if the sensor was the sole fault.
I have heard this, but no way of knowing if the previous garage did this and cant find anywhere on Carista to check. I did get a DPF light, flashing glow plug and MIL fault shortly after purchase though and took it to a garage for diagnostics/remediation. They did forced regen and reset the...
