Is safe delete DPF and Adblue?

Hi Guys

im thing to reprog and delete the DPF and the adblue, someone did it? it is safe? Im a bit worry about if in the future have problems with the DPF it is very expensivo to fix

I am, however my issues are self inflicted as do a fair amount of short journeys. I will regen as frequently 50 miles. I consume oil at a rate of 1L per 2000 miles which contributes to my soot build up.

I’d delete my dpf in a heartbeat but obviously there’s MOT issues associated with that.

Currently exploring a delete, with a yearly refit of a dpf just for the MOT then refit the straight pipe once a pass is achieved. Rather costly process of doing that though
 
Why not just wait and see what happens with the DPF and if/when it starts playing up, weigh up your options then?
 
Kind of what I’m doing currently to be honest. Pre-empting at the moment as my regen frequency is the biggest red flag indicating it’s getting blocked.

But such frequent regens also bring their own problems right? Like a rather unreasonable MPG and oil dilution?
 
Are owners in general having problems with their DPF technology?
I suspect that most on here are, where possible, taking precautions to minimise the risk of DPF issues - like avoiding lots of short journeys.
 
Btw it's illegal in the UK to tamper or modify the emissions control system.

And should be an MOT failure for the smoke emissions test with no DPF.

Touch wood, I hope not. I guess that manufacturers cobble emission control devices up on the back of a fag packet or toilet roll then fit then to satisfy government departments guessing that they will have moved on to something else, new model or what ever before being caught out.

Just a wonder, could one micturate into the ad-blue orifice in an emergency? :sick::speechless::whistle:

The EGR/adblue delete is quite popular and the van will regen as normal. Personal experience is you'll have EGR/adblue issues before DPF issues but others may disagree

Its 100% safe but like @Dellmassive rightly points out, it's also 100% illegal

I think the issue with all the emissions gubbins is that legislation pushed ahead without any regard for the time scales required to design and develop a viable engineering solution, so the manufacturers just cobbled something together to tide then over until ICE was killed off.

BTW, I believe the concentration of urea in human urine falls well short of that found in Adblue. :)

That is a reasonable assumption and one that most likely fits.
 
From personal experience you’ll get DPF problems from using van as a daily. I use mine as I would any car, long journeys now and then. Thought mine was regen but it wasn’t.
I started getting the coil light and going into limp mode, 4-5 months went by, no one could figure out what it was. The the turbo kind of failed, was still running but only just.
Took it to a garage on a off chance and he told me problem without even looking at it.
Exhaust pressure wasn’t getting through the DPF and coming back on its self, straining the turbo and goin into limp mode. Then after a while the turbo had enough and near enough failed. Had the DPF removed, Ad-blue and egr deleted and remapped. The DPF was totally blocked with shit.
Runs like an absolute dream now, pulls so well and like a new van.
That’s my view anyway. If you are doing motorway miles every week and often you should be fine.

There is no incentive for manufacturers to now spend money to develop new emissions systems for diesel engines which will soon be obsolete. I think the best we can hope for is that EVs improve significantly soon. Yes, that's optimistic! Meanwhile in China EV's are selling big style, you can charge one up using cheap coal powered electricity in no time!
 
No, they basically cut a lid on it. Take all innards out, re weld plate, grind it all smooth, re spray it. Looks totally untouched, plus it’s the top so can’t even see it.
Gone through two MOTs since.
Do you know if they did any mapping to stop the regens or does the sensor see no soot anymore so doesn't trigger regens?
