It should be fully sealed but that won’t stop the water running into the door or window.
The only way to prevent the wateringress is to fit an multi awning rail either side which will provide an effective gutter. Reimo or cheaper Vamoose which is just as good as the Reimo.
Any update on this please guys?
I previously had LED upgrade bulbs/lamps haha in mine, but got lots of condensation/ wateringress.
Could anyone advise the bulbs they used, are happy with, causing no dash errors or condensation ingress.
Trouble free would be good
Hi, I took mine to VW and they did a ‘wateringress test’ (put it under a hose for a few hours) and confirmed there was a leak. They’ve said it’s a door seal that’s the problem and they’re ordering me a new seal in. Once it’s fitted and it rains again I’ll report back as to whether this is the...
...need to be open. The holes on our VW touran tailgate holes are open. Why would someone have plugged them with these plastic plugs? I thought they might have been having wateringress past the seal and put them in to stem the leakage. Or am I missing something here guys. Your thoughts please...
Very good points above for the DIY Installs.
Making sure that the combustion air inlet and exhaust faces rearwards and slightly downwards.
To stop forced air from driving forward and wateringress, even if the pipes are above the sheilds.
The tank has to be vented at the highest point. This to allow the air out when filling and to allow air in when consuming water.
I have two vents in case I’m parked on a hill, 4mm bore is plenty, stick a cheap, generic disposable fuel filter on the end of the vent tubes to prevent ingress of...
Is wateringress in the door speakers a common problem in the T6?
The factory speakers coil complete seized after just a few years.
Replaced them with a factory kit last year and now the left door speaker has become all scratchy and bad. Took the new speakers out and found rust on the backside...
So removed alpine speakers today, and wateringress, so assuming they have blown.
So I refitted my original speakers, left the alpine tweeters as thought they should be fine.
Still no sound, and same fault code.
Anybody have any idea?
Would the tweeters have blown too and stopping the sound...
...too.
You can remove the unit and remove the blue microswitch from the rear and probably see like mine that there is corrosion from wateringress.
I've just removed mine but not yet ordered a replacement as everything on ebay looks like copy chinese stuff.
the blue microswitch is the same...
...do what I did and remove all the tailgate trims
The seal leaks, bur the OE part has been upgraded.
As a temporary measure, I used heavyweight clear tape over the light to reduce wateringress. Also remove the 4 plastic bungs from the bottom of the tailgate to allow the water to drain.
I see Hilo/Horizon now has 60Kg roof loading, which would put it back on my list. I was picking mine in Autumn 2022, so not the right time to be going Hilo.
If by fitting them you caused the wateringress that resulted in the short then yes. It's not a matter of avoiding the warranty, the warranty doesn't cover damage you caused even if unwittingly. It's insurance against manufacturing faults not accidental damage.
If you've gone back to stock then...
...collecting there. Now I am parking the other way and no water can collect. Rather bad design to be honest and wonder will there be a wateringress when going on a wet road, but as you have also noticed there is no bottom rubber seal on doors anyway.
Drove an MOD Ford crew cab last weekend...
Hi there, did you manage to fix your wateringress? I have a similar problem water dripping from behind the dash into the passenger footwell. I assumed that the was too much for AC condensate but bout sure. The incidents do seem to coincide with heavy rain. Any pointers?
Hi all,
I've recently had some Vanshades fitted to my kombi sliding doors and I'm not sure they're 100% right. Should they be flush all around? I'm a little concerned the door seal won't be tight against the metal and allow wateringress.
Cheers,
Pete
Hi all,
Sorry for slow update. Turns out the wateringress in the front footwell was because when the fitters installed the leisure battery, they ran the cables through the same hole in the bulkhead as that used by the tube that drains excess water from the the sunroof opening (brown tube in A...
Rear Level Sensor loom redone in correct colour cable and correct seals
Before
At last it’s done properly now and hopefully won’t have wateringress for a third time!
Thank you! I took mine in as well and they left it under a hose for 3 hours and confirmed ‘there was a leak!’. Something to do with the door seal. It’s in today for a replacement seal so will report back when I know if that’s done the trick or not! Thanks.
