Spoke to my neighbour who does PPF and wrapping etc and said it’s not worth it because even if you get a stonechip it will pierce it and then get water ingress underneath. Everyone has an opinion though.

Qq on this as I searched for a recent thread rather than start a new one When removing the factory fitted bolts from the roof, is there any special prep before fitting my new awning rail, it's come with rubber washers but is there anything else I could do to prevent water ingress?

Yep those are the standard roof bolts. Have a good read of the linked thread to understand the water ingress risk. I used a variation on it to mount my awning rail. You might be happy with the mounting in the rail system you choose, but at least when you know the risk you can have a good look...
