That’s not a factory size tyre. I would go with the factory pressure for the 255/45 or 235/50 and then have a play from there +/- 2psi to see what works for you and feels best. .
Excellent point.
My van is fully converted so probably explains why 40psi feels much better.
It’s so noticeable I can tell when the tyres need topping up.
I have a Westfalia club joker high top camper based on the T32 Lwb Highline 150 dsg. It rides better than the T28 based VW Californias I have owned before despite the extra height. The factory fit 17in wheels and tyres are okay but I may well consider wider tyres at lower pressure when these are...
Hi @Pauly the tyrepressure option is still on the mfd display. Haven’t had the van out since or tried to store the tyrepressures. Will try it when next out and report back.
...versus one with say 3MM.
I'd expect abs and traction faults if it had an abs sensor fault. Assuming treads are reasonably equal and tyrepressures correct and you reset the system, then all should work.
Treads only need to be equalish on the same axle, so front could both have 2mm and rears...
Another tyrepressure question… Van is a T6 T32 Kombi, 2WD, 200hp with DSG.
OEM tyres are awful 215/60 R17C 104/102 (commercial tyres). VW recommended pressures are 57/48 psi F/R unladen and 58/58 psi laden. I can’t find a load/pressure chart for these commercial tyres but the narrow pressure...
...tough and easily absorb the nocks against hard stone and rock that lesser tyres might succumb. They are also tolerant of frequent low tyrepressures. In the wet season which over the last year or so, I have gone down to 6psi to prevent making deep tram lines in my neighbours fields top...
Sorry, ignore what I said, I shouldn’t reply on a Saturday night when I’ve had a drink!
I read “the pressures I’m running” as “tyrepressures I’m running”! Sorry.
I have finished my convertion from Panel van to full camper. The last job was the wheels.
Purchased direct from Wolfrace online. TPMS valves & tyres fitted. Came well packaged.
2 miles down the road and the pressure cam up wrong. Changed the tyre size in the infotainment system and Hey Presto...
Assuming your wheels aren't fitted with pressure sensors, are all the tyre treads on each axle roughly the same? I've seen people fit only one new tyre and once the vehicle gets up to the higher speeds, it triggers the light due to picking up the difference in diameter between new and worn tyre
Hi all,
I’m currently running 275/40/19 tyres and looking for a sweet spot in pressure!
Any advice welcome, first van and only managed 750 miles in the past 12 months so a novice with this stuff!
Cheers
Mine came from KwikFit and I used the mobile fitting service.
Left him to it.
When he rang the doorbell and said all done I walked out to check - he fitted Hankook but not the model I ordered. Same load rating etc. His comment was ‘they’re just the same’. However, none of the three scores (for...
