Upgraded Lithium leisure battery - update

Spot on. I will definitely be looking into it early next year. Thank you for all the info. Very much appreciated.

[Guide] 12v/240v Power Inverters -- How I Done It --

I run a Renogy 1000w inverter (I want the 2000 watt) and have managed so far to blow an 80A and 100A glass tube type fuse where the load (supposedly sub 1kw travel kettle) was drawing 88A at 13.2 volts and a 700 watt microwave oven that pulled 97A at 13.2 volts. Not saying these currents are...

    Dellmassive`s Camper Van Adventure

Very true, I'm looking at about a 25% duty cycle with the thermostat. Then add in the 230ah lithium battery that will be used to trickle charge the delta2 upto 8A or 100w.... Then with two.... 230+230ah = 460ah ( that's 5520wh). Assuming we fit both... Run the numbers on that and see...

Inverter recommendation for 240v 1.65amp load (Bosch ebike Battery Charger BPC3400)

I should have added that I'm powering it with a Roamer 100am lithium battery with 160 watt solar panel. I'm thinking I should probably go for this which seems good value: https://uk.renogy.com/1000w-12v-to-230v-240v-pure-sine-wave-inverter-with-english-standard-socket-with-ups-function/

Yeah, but the operative word here is “essential”

Off-Grid set up, not that great!

Even with Lithium, running heavy 240V loads is wishful thinking. People think that Lithium is a magic pill for all their off grid needs, but unless you have a LOT of lithium, it isn’t. Lithium is just another storage medium, it’s a reservoir of power & it’s only as good as the source(s) that...

Off-Grid set up, not that great!

Just to check on the fridge - it is a compressor fridge? Assuming so, your 12v loads are a pretty typical off-grid set-up so shouldn’t be an issue assuming an adequate recharging strategy (usually a DC-DC and preferably solar too). The inverter running 240v loads is another matter, it’s...

Van electrics upgrade - Shopping list sense check?

Realistically have a good think how many times you are actually going to change over from EHU to Inverter before doing something complicated. And how often you are going to use it. It's perfectly viable to use it via the inverter all the time and rely on a good EHU charger to replace the...

    Essential must have's

We couldn't live in the van without an inverter! Induction hob, wifey hair straighteners, coffee machine, toaster, laptop charging, anything really pluggable innable! Even used a hammer drill at busfest to plant a superstake for the flagpole in rock hard ground. As long as you have a decent...

Advice on campervan electric system please

That looks like a competent kit for a smart alternator van, the Victron units are popular choices. Some thoughts: If you want to make tea off grid I assume you will use the gas hob. You'd need an inverter included to run a mains kettle and it would use a huge amount of energy - the added...

    240v Inverter vs Warranty.

no it wont void the warranty if its done properly. ( I've always had inverters and leisure battery systems and its never been questioned about warranty) as above add up the watts of the kit you want to run. . . ie - 1000w then multiply by the amount of time you plan on using them . . . ie...

    Kombi dayvan inspiration

@Rioja John I'm fitting the Van-King bed and slider system after the summer and really like your idea of the box and panelling you've done for your electrics and wiring. You wouldn't happen to have a closer photo of the box showing it's position within the rear seats as well as the setup in the...

Soooo slight update for you guys, after a few months of working away and getting work done. Ghost has now got dc to do charging, a 3000w inverter, and to now power everything with 240v off grid.....a 560ah custom built lithium battery, with solar charging as well we have 5G Internet on board at...

    Off Grid

We have a low wattage (1400W) kettle in the van & only use it when we have EHU. Keeping it sub 6A gets us under the 6A limit of many campsite EHUs. We also have a 1600W inverter & Lithium LB, but hardly use the inverter. We use the gas kettle when not on EHU.

Lithium LifePo4 12v Batteries - Time For An Upgrade?

I I think the massive current capabilities of lithium are a free bonus of the chemistry tbh. I think “downgrading” the current capabilities would actually add to the cost. As long as the internals of the BMS are capable of handling the current, then adding some kind of current limiting...

    Power Station substitution

This question puts me at risk of seeming stupid or at least of being naive with an overactive imagination. At some time, hopefully, not this year, when I need to change my AGM leisure battery, I’ll get a lithium one. Its lightness and portability is worth the extra expense. 200w of solar power...

    Alternator output

Unless you are really going to stretch the capacity with sustained off grid use or you just like lots of data then probably not. That's a good set of kit, though I'd go for the smaller and cooler running Orion XS DC-DC and downrate in software. If you find you do need one they are reasonably...

    Roamer LiFePO4 Gen4 230Ah Seatbase battery -- "How I Done It" --

15a is fine, it'll just take longer to charge - but if you're on EHU then you'll be connected 24hrs a day. It's like solar - it might only be 20a max but type getting that all day long. Hence, 700Wh from solar (60Ah roughly) is ready to get from a solar panel. 15a for 15hrs is enough for a full...
