Van centres not providing quote for work

...cover, rubber O ring for fuel return on injector. 2x stretch bolts used on the 2x injector clamps need renewing. The bolts have sealing grommet on rocker cover. Manual states to renew if damaged, but taking the view more cost efficient to just renew. VW van centre 1 is quoting ~£870 for job...

    Vehicle Battery removal

Ok that’s great thanks, yes I’ve now seen an existing grommet to the scuttle so might use that instead. Cheers

What Have You Bought, But Not Yet Fitted or Used?

...I’d void the warranty if I drilled through them so I’m moving the mounts up the rail slightly so I only have to drill through the fibreglass. Just waiting for the rubber grommets to arrive that’ll plug the holes i dont use! As always, the jobs a bit more involved than it first appeared haha.

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

@Richard85 I tried those self adhesive cable tie pads on the painted body under my vans tail lights to secure some water tank vent tubes. Even with a thorough cleaning they don’t stay stuck for long. You may have to find a different way to secure the conduit.

Portable Solar Panel without drilling holes in bodywork

That tie wrap needs trimming - they are vicious left like that. I use a set of cheap lever style nail clippers. :)

Portable Solar Panel without drilling holes in bodywork

If it’s for a leisure battery and you have barn doors you could use the grommets for the tail gate hinges, run some cables to your leisure battery via a controller then leave some connectors externally for the portable panel

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Started prep for the solar cables - conduit run down the side of the tailgate and grommets in the rear light and behind the small corner panel - seemed the easiest place to fish them from. I’m much more comfortable drilling there than through the roof.

Moving electrics from under drivers seat

...existing pipe and also have a home for my electrics to go through, I located the pipe on the A pillar but seemed like if I pulled the pipe out it would be a struggle to route it back to the same spot, I’ve ordered some grommets for the new hole, would there be any issues doing it this way? Thanks

    Shuttle Shenanigans

Added some blanking grommets as those holes for fog light adjusters just seem unfinished.

Moving electrics from under drivers seat

Yes I have a sunroof, that’s what it must be, it’s coming from the exact spot as in the picture where the grommet is so I’ve routed the cable through anyway, the drain pipe is that’s what it is has came off and there is no way of me putting it back on either so hopefully won’t cause any issues

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

...roof board. From rear camera 6" cable with connector on end needs to connect to cable I've just threaded through rubber gaitor. Maybe drill a hole where my finger is pointing then use fish wire to connect them up. The hole will be touched up with paint and then a grommet with a hole to fit in.

Moving electrics from under drivers seat

Hi, I am in the process of putting electrics in van and routing cable from main battery, I have pulled out what I assumed to the the grommet that the cable goes through but it was attached to a pipe and seems to be some kind of breather and will be next to impossible to get the pipe back in...

Random Rattling / buzzing noise (video)

Exactly the same as mine, I can see a rubber grommet under there but doesn't seem to be holding the cooler in place, I can move mine sideway a little too. Your concern on heat is mine too, I want to put something under there just to try it, my luck would be that it dropped out and caught in all...

    [Guide] Mobile Solar Panels ? . . . - How I Did It -

...to invest in the tools to assemble the connectors. If you intend to make more than a couple, or need to thread unterminated cable through a grommet or wiring run then that may change things. Don't be tempted to try and assemble/crimp with normal DIY tools like pliers to save money - a 100w...

    Barn-door To Tailgate Conversion

There are 2 cross members, the inner one is the one that is different between the 2 types, the outer one is the same for both. Its hard to make out what the inner one looks like. I know there is an additional strengthening plate on the barn door version that beefs up the area holding the top...
