I suppose I could remove the battery terminal for one last test but I agree.
I suppose the next question is whether to replace like for like or a small upgrade (I won't go lithium). The battery compartment is a constraint as it only just fits the current battery (the bm2 only fitted due to the...
Not the best advise, yes the Ctek will run a lithium, the only downside is they cannot wake one up if it’s flat.
What is your usage, how long offgrid etc
Drop us a pm or call if you want to talk through some options
Not so much bought, but with the 3000w inverter, 560ah lithium battery and 5g Internet......I can now run the xbox while offgrid, aswell as all the other stuff! Win!
Cheers guys, appreciated the input! The last thing I want is to be worrying that we will run out of power. Or being cold in the nights but not putting the heater on for fear of depleting the battery!
I’ve just ordered “the van conversion guide” to hopefully get my head around things. It’s a...
Hi,
I'm looking for advice on the ultimate off-grid electrical setup for my T6 campervan. If money is no object what full setup of components would you buy? In particular, what's the biggest and best LifePo4 to fit under seat?
I'm wondering if a Victron 160Ah LifePo4 battery would fit under...
Thanks very much. Seems a similar setup to mine; I am debating just going for a offgrid power unit that can be carried rather than lithium just so I don't have to change lights etc.
With regards to your captain seats; are they OEM? they look like the ones from Camper Beds & Seats
Are they...
Thanks.
Thats just a 240v extension lead sitting on the unit. I use it for the tv when on EHU. Tv is 12v also for offgrid.
Think my set up is pretty standard with a leisure battery on a split charge system with the addition of a solar panel on the roof.
I can run the fridge, lights water...
I have a dometic 80l fridge fitted in my van. As I live in Australia I need a bigger fridge to keep our food and drink cold on longish trips.
I have a lithium lifepo4 battery and plenty of solar to keep it running when offgrid .
It fits in a lwb van easily.
We run it on & offgrid Dave - it's rated at 1300W (~5.5Ah @230v), but it does its business fairly quickly. Unsure about the blanket, but we don't have it on all night - just 10-15 mins at the start and end of the night is plenty for us in the shoulder seasons.
Hi, i am thinking of putting a Dometic CRX50 compressor fridge into the van, but not sure about what size lithium battery to go for.
I have a 100w solar panel but will be getting a better solar charger (maybe victron) to charge the battery as well as adding a smart alternator charger.
We...

Your inverter is putting a pretty extreme load on the 12v system.
If you want to be offgrid with 240v heating loads like that you need more capacity and at least double batteries, as you are finding single batteries cannot supply the current.
Victron sell the smart battery disconnect.
It's a separate unit that does just that..... You set the switch off point and it shut the power off.
I've got a couple.....
I need to sell them on now.
With SLA and AGMs it's important not to drop them below 50% SoC as they will be damaged.
My use requirements are similar to yours, I fitted a Roamer 160ah and although I’ve not gone completely offgrid camping yet I have done trial runs in the drive by leaving the fridge running, leaving lights on for probably longer than I would when camping and using the diesel heater for 30...
I had the same problem with my espache heater. Tried to fire up but went into error and cold air. Turns out that there wasn’t enough power in the battery. I use a Jackery to boost it up when offgrid. Also, have you enough fuel in your tank?
If you're offgrid with limited driving then solar probably won't put back in what you're taking out. Where my van is currently parked I'm getting an hour or 2 of direct sun, at most, at the moment - and the 18a B2B charger will take ages to put power back into the battery. I've just done a...
60-70a is the fuse recommended by Victron for the Orion 50a.
And don't worry about the strain when starting the engine, there's a delay before it starts charging, it'll wait for a minute or so before it starts pulling any amps from the SB - if you're using engine shutdown detection then you can...
I guessed that to be the case but I cannot see any disadvantage to having all the on-board batteries charging on EHU. Just plug in one cable and job done.
I now have to provide a second charging source to the cab battery. Less frequent if the van often driven but a mild irritant if only used...
Hi all,
I have no understanding of battery charging etc so Im going to ask a potentially stupid question....... Is there a way I can charge my leisure battery at home? Reason I ask is that I hire my camper out and if people have stayed offgrid, the battery always comes back really low. Now if...
Advantages to both. Multiple output charger is more compact but only works on EHU. The Ablemail will trickle charge the starter battery regardless of the source of charge on the leisure battery.
If space is tight and you'll mostly be on EHU go for the multi output charger.
If you want to be...
