I think the problem (not having seen any of them mind), is just powdercoating them, not zinc plating, then powdercoating. So if any of the powdercoating gets scratched, they'll just rust. Hi @MDS, thanks for all the info. That's new news to me. Well, when I checked the roof came into my mind that they had done the painting outdoors o_O. Google gives astonishing results by "zinc inclusion vw" :eek:. Obviously I need to have yet another, more careful look over the van :(

It's a bit of a pain, use a small grinder and a drill and you should get it out in an hour cleanly. Remember to use a good zinc primer and a sealing coat afterwards
