Foxes have done me dirty - AGAIN

As the title says - foxes have eaten my wiring again only 5 months since last time. I mean this time they were kind enough to munch my oil sensor on bottom of engine, rather than the NOX sensor again - so we're not running out of cable to splice. Wahoo. This is a serious post to see peoples...

Rodent damage to NOX & Oil sensors, and AdBlue injector [RESOLVED]

We've had a great few months with our new (to us) camper conversion but now disaster has struck: parked up in London for five days and rodents have destroyed three separate parts under the chassis. The most expensive is the NOX sensor and that's been chewed so close to the end that i dont think...

    Fox / Rodent repellants

So had roadside assistance out today as the van was in limp mode and Christmas tree on the dash. Turns out a fox / rat / whatever chewed through my NOX wiring and some other bits. Had a search on the forum but couldn't find anything from experience to see what methods have worked to prevent...

    Fox / Rodent repellants

Thanks for your post: funnily enough I hadn't been able to locate yours before posting my own tale of woe today Rodent damage to NOX and Oil sensors, and AdBlue injector Given you're a few months on now, interested in whether your cable-patch-ups are holding together OK (no error messages etc)...

    Fault code P011100

Unlikely that two sensors fail. Did you compare the electrical resistance of new against the old sensor with a multimeter? The transporter electrical looms aren’t exactly great quality and there have been cases of damage during maintenance, vibration, chaffing and rodents. Worth a check over...

Chewed wire loom and ad blue pipe

I can understand your dismay. I too have the occasional problem with rodents. Mostly they tend to sit and eat their spoils on top of the starter battery. Perhaps even nestle down in its duvet like comfort. I had wondered what the potential might be for serious damage but so far so good. I...

Hi Thanks for the add, I have a money pit of a 16 plate T6.

Replace the damage and assemble the connector with silicone grease. To protect against rodents you can apply external sheathing, plastic or preferably braided stainless steel. Readily available on Ebay / Amazon.

    Fox / Rodent repellants

Hey Sorry to hear you've suffered nibbling as well. Yeh our repairs have been absolutely fine - done about 3000 miles since and nothing up with any management lights etc. I did have a week where the ACC would keep turning off, but as it's different wiring I think just a coincidence rather...

2015 Transporter DPS & Cat wiring eaten by FOX!

Hi all, my friend's 2015 T5 4wd 1.9 Transporter, which started showing warning lights on the dash - engine management light flashing, DPF sooting up and Cat I believe. He took it in to a dealer who said the cables had been chewed (by the foxes he foolishly feeds every night!). The damaged cables...

Flashing coil light and stop start fault [Resolved]

...below! But I’ve had it in the garage for a month now. They had the front end off her to check wiring etc. They did find evidence of rodent damage, but nothing to any wires. They’ve now coded out the start/stop completely as it was coming up with start/stop error. They also changed the fuel...

Foxes have done me dirty - AGAIN

Hey 99% sure it's foxes in my case as they're terrors around here and are always playing on / under cars all the time. They live super near us and are a constant hassle in gardens / dogs going mental etc. Typical London 'don't give a fook' foxes. My gf mentioned she saw them playing /...

Intermittant Limp mode stuck turbo actuator implausible signal

Ok so now I’ve moved house I’ve had time to look at the van again A friend who’s pretty good with diagnostics popped over and it seems the MAP sensor at the top of the engine was bad so that was replaced. This cured the turbocharger stuck fault code P00AF_00 Unfortunately there are now other...
