OK, the logic is that new tyres should be fitted to the rear, this is due to safety and handling. More grip on the rear would make understeer happen before oversteer. It is much to control understeer than oversteer. Loss grip at the front means the vehicle will tend to go in a straighter line...

It looks like I had two issues - the fuse in the fuse board for those interior lights in my van was a 7.5 amp fuse but every other diagram of the fuse board has a 15 amp fuse in there. The second issue was that the new LED bulbs I had put in are polarity sensitive & I had put them both in...
