HELP - why would fridge flatten van battery?

If its wired as per Sargent guidelines, then the fridge has nothing to do with the Sargent unit, it should be wired direct to the leisure battery. I'd be checking ow the fridge is wired first.

Upgrade from Sargent EC155 Advice Request

Hi all - update from Sargent and Fogstar below. I guess my only real option now is to find a replacement charging solution and leave the Sargent in place to run the 12v systems? Any advice welcomed please - thanks. Dave (Fogstar Ltd) 2 Feb 2024, 08:41 GMT Hi Rik, Unfortunately, it looks...

Fitting a battery charger with a Sargent EC155

Only comment would be that step 3 and 4 remain dependent on your Sargent unit. To keep it simple you could just wire your victron +12v supply under driver seat.

Rayne automotive 8a main battery charger

Hi did you ever find a solution for this issue? I’ve been having the same problem but since I’ve got a Sargent EC155 when it detects a voltage of over 15V I get an alarm going off which isn’t ideal in the middle of night .

I ran a 6:00mm2 copper back from the under seat battery to the wardrobe Sargent EC160 with a 30A fuse at the battery end.

Van electrics upgrade - Shopping list sense check?

One thing to check if you are in your wiring is the behaviour of the Sargent when your engine is running. Many of the integrated PSU systems designed for converter usage will shut down large chunks of the 12v system to comply with EMC regulations, which can be annoying if you rely on power while...

    Camper electrics

To be fair to Sargent that's more of a causal relationship, nothing inherently wrong with the units. It's just they are the wrong solution for a lot of folks and they are now very dated in a world rapidly needing more from an electrical system. Should they ever produce one with native DC-DC...

Upgrade from Sargent EC155 Advice Request

...and haven't fitted one then you will be connecting your AGM van battery directly to your Lithium battery via the split charge relay in the Sargent - and that's a very risky thing to do given the very different voltage profiles. The PSU in the Sargent is also likely not charging the Lithium in...

Sargent 155/ctek: high voltage and 'v' function

...all. I have a question but I am absolutely not an expert. I have has a similar problem to the one described here: High Voltage Issue on CTEK/Sargent EC155 I had it looked at by the converters and they sorted it in the way that thread shows. It's been spot on for 2 years. However, over the...

Leisure Battery not Charging from VSR

...split charger isn’t sending ‘charge’ to the leisure battery but I can’t really comment on how the system works. It’s a pro conversion with a Sargent system and what appears to be a generic split charger under driver seat. I can’t see anything has blown or tripped. Any help would be much...

Upgrade from Sargent EC155 Advice Request

Generally a compressor fridge isn't wired through a system like the Sargent, they tend to need a fairly direct connection to the leisure battery to avoid voltage drop issues?

...resistor to disable it and use the DC-DC engine run algorithm if you prefer. That's quite minimal change if you are broadly happy with the Sargent handling of the 240v and 12v distribution but just want to get better charging or switch to lithium; compared to replacing all that, especially...

Your Sargent charger is 'suitable for lead-acid' batteries, so not ideal for Lithium, same for the VSR.

Renogy 12V Lithium ion battery - Sargent EC160

Hi, did you get the renogy charger and Sargent to work together? I have the EC155 and just bought the renogy charger. My plan is to add the solar panels at a later date but I'm unsure where to tap the renogy charger onto the Sargent. I've read on another thread that the charger fuse in the...
