...Plugged it in and monitored the live data to see what is going on.
When driving (even at 2000-3000 revs) the DPF does not get hot enough to regen for the normal duration. Active regen It sits around 480c-530c and ticks off the soot very very slowly, therefore giving a regen duration fault...
Kind of what I’m doing currently to be honest. Pre-empting at the moment as my regen frequency is the biggest red flag indicating it’s getting blocked.
But such frequent regens also bring their own problems right? Like a rather unreasonable MPG and oil dilution?
...dongle and the VAG DPF app.
You can leave the new Caristar Evo dongle connected all the time, so it's super easy just to jump on the VAG DPF app when it starts to regen with the engine rev slightly increased.
The van Seems to be doing a Regen every 80odd miles.... And takes around 30mins...
Hi, my 150 T6 does about 50miles a day. regens around every 150miles if I am on motorway or towns. I reset my (2) trip to monitor miles to regens between. App wise I run carista dongle and VAG DPF app £5 worth it to let it finish which is about 15mins. Plus carista allows coding and if any...
...of a tank of fuel at 100km/h for around 20 to 30 mins on a dual carriageway way or motorway at least once a month for them to do a successful regen. Sounds like your speeds and road types are hindering a regen. If when you stop the vehicle the engine fans run on after you stop you've...
Have you tried letting it complete it's regen,,?
At the end of the journey, just sit there at idle, the regen should finish after 15,mind or so... Or the revs will drop back down again.

...this doesn’t mean there are no codes logged?
Is there a cheap diagnostic tool that’s worth buying?
I can’t be certain it’s not doing a regen. But, I recently did a 2hr motorway journey in it and it had been misfiring beforehand and also since. I’d have thought that’d have given it enough...
Interrupting a regen once in a while doesn’t matter. The problem comes if you do lots of short journeys and constantly keep stopping the regen from completing. If you interrupt one it will restart it on the next drive so try to ensure that one finishes. Indications of a regen are:
Higher idle...
Yeah I have always found this. From memory it will attempt regen twice for 15min periods and if it doesent complete it will give up. Revs go back down to normal etc. But when you set off again and go over 2000 revs it will kick back in to finish what it was doing.
If it repeatedly fails over a...
Do you have a regen light? That would be luxury. The only time I know it is happening is if it is idling at traffic lights. Got it estimated to regen every approx 190-210 miles regardless of type of journeys.
Anyway - yes - 130min is a problem.
Might be worth considering different options but...
