Not what have I done but what has it done…………tailgate button has gone on strike! I’m assuming wateringress and micro switch failure. Luckily I have a key barrel on the outside so can still access the boot. I had the handle colour matched late October so I’m wondering if disassembly/reassembly...
Wateringress is common and well documented. Sliding side windows one source, rear sliding door at the C pillar area and last but not least the tailgate. All leaking areas never been sorted since the T5 was first released. My 2008, 2016 and 2021 caravelle they all have the same leaking points...
Wateringress at the third brake light or the handle itself are other culprits for a failing latch.. have you noticed anything like this?
Have you replaced them or the garage? Are either able to say what the cause seemed to be?
As @Alster said, whilst they do fail they’re not known for being...
Hello thank you so much for the quick reply. I’ve just taken a pic now, I didn’t see any rubber gaskets being added the the new ones just attached with the Thule fixing bolts i think. I’ve just checked the old fixing bolts and they have a a rubber gasket on them. Would I be able to see water...
...(+ve and -ve) and a canbus pair (can high and can low)
I would probably start by getting at the control module in the rear quarter panel and checking for wateringress in that area and also disconnect the 3 plugs that connect to the module and make sure they are all clean and plugged in properly
They're a sealed unit. Users here have had them in the oven to melt the glue so they can be dismantled but then you have to reseal well them to stop wateringress plus I'm not sure you can even buy a lens.
...rev counter up and down, headlights flashing on and off. It the engine and gearbox functioning as normal. Please can someone give me a clue. I disconnected the battery and it cured the issue but only for five minute or so. Could it be wateringress in the BECM
Any help would be greatly...
try swapping out the relay, - as above
and check the socket terminals for wateringress and corrosion.
and possibly spread terminals, causing poor connection.
...to allow for air flow.
Im thinking.. and it’s a long shot, that this may be the reason why my mirror is playing up. Moisture on the connections playing havoc…
Anyway it may pay for you to check your van for any wateringress just to rule it out.
As I said, its a long shot but worth a look.
Wateringress problem seems fixed. It turned out to be AC condensate. The drain to the engine compartment terminates in a rubber grommet just below and left of the battery. This should have an open ‘slot’ at the bottom- mine seems to have sealed itself up. Condensate had nowhere to go other than...
Light misting that soon clears is normal. If you have large droplets that never disappear there will be a problem with wateringress.
There's no harm in dropping a couple of small silica gel packs inside the lights every other week during the winter.
Okay is your wheel arch liner (exterior plastic liner) still in place above your wheel? I don't know why you'd have a hole in your wheel arch but maybe there? Driving in rain the spray could get in perhaps??? If your rear seals and slider seals are definitely 100% in tact and healthy and roof...
Wateringress is a difficult one to discover up high. Most people don't find it until it's got to the floor at the lowest point and then it's a guessing game as to where it's gettng in along with the contemplation that their ply floor is potentially shot. If you have a light coloured carpet...
...cover the lower edge of the wheel arch liner, AND they protrude right into the wheel arch. I'm hoping these will minimise greatly any wateringress via this route. Can be seen here https://www.t6forum.com/attachments/img_1529-jpeg.273720/.
However, all that being said, I think I will make it...
